Hey guys, i hope this thread is in the right place its kind of technical, now can anyone point me in the right direction of a place that sells an RB30 Sump with the pan (the big bulge in the sump) towards the back instead of at the front of the engine.
Reason i am asking this is the RB30 is going in another car and i need the pan to be set up like this to mount the engine. I know castlemaine do them but i am reluctant to go there as i believe they are a bit expensive.
I have heard that high energy make an RB30 sump with the big bulge towards the back but as always no dealers or high energy are replying to my emails.
Any help greatly appreciated cheers nick.

Try calling a local speed shop that deals in high energy, generally i find locally owned business's of this nature are much more enthusiastic about satisfying the customer. And big company's would receive thousands of emails with all sorts of querys, with most of those not being serious, so they're never going to be a priority if you know what i mean.

There are two factory options that I know of.
GQ Patrol has a rear pan but the pan is really deep, so in all likelyhood you will need to modify the pan and pickup to avoid ground clearance problems. They can be bought new from Nissan for around $4-500 or from wreckers (if you are extremely lucky) for $2-300. I find it a little difficult to lay out this much cash for something that I will then need to modify.
The other option is to source a 200ZR sump which is a fairly rare model with a rear pan RB20 engine. I have heard Nissan Aust can order them in and you can also buy them out of the US for around $300. Not 100% they will fit RB30 though. IMO looks like a better option than the GQ. Google will find you some pics of what it looks like.
Otherwise you make your own based on a $30 RB30 sump, but the labour content is fairly high.
Please post up what you find from High Energy and the like as I'm also looking for the same thing.
