Ive been thinking about this for awhile and i think around $1,000 - $1,400 for a 1987 VL Calais (n/a) is very good, i cant understand why people put VL's on the net for over $1,500. you gotta be kidding, yes i am having a dig at them, but cmon unless its a v8 or turbo or hdt model it means nothing. the market has changed alot in the last 3 years and i dont think VL owners have got that yet. if in aussie they struggle for months to sell a mint $12,000 VLCT how do people expect to sell a stock n/a VLC in NZ for $6,000?! as these cars get older there only going to cheaper in price, one reason the v8 VL's have stayed the same price is because of Peter Brock's death, and i think alot of people are using that to justify selling there VL's for over inflated prices. what do you think?

Dissagree......A car is worth what someone will pay for it........and I can only see VLs holding that price because they are getting harder and harder tro find a tidy one and there are becoming less and less.....and the VL commodore is still one of the most favoured commodores made

I think everything you said is wrong Supply and demand will determine the price of anything. Older cars either hold their value or start going up because the number of tidy ones diminishes The price of a V8 Calais (non-HDT) has nothing to do with Brocks death imo

It can also depend on the condition too. Low km's and no dents or rust will obviously get more coin as opposed to a high km rust bucket on its last legs. The fuel cost could have something to do but not solely as even late model commodores are going for alot less as peps chose smaller engines. But the vl will always be a favourite and for that be in demand..

A car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it and Supply and demand will determine the price of anything - I can't agree more with these two statements plus have you tried to get any VL Calais parts lately try asking for the front eyelids/nosecone this will also hold the value on the calais

the reason vls are so popular is because for us young guys (under 20) they are a cheap manual rwd car. still alot cheaper than thrahed out r32's e.t.c.

well i have noticed things getting tight for people which means people dont buy toys etc and people selling their toys eg the silver monaro, turbo calais..........vltwags? to add... the price of larger cars has dropped a bit but the vls do seem to hold there value, just look what dealers sell them for $3000ish and they are popular due the the many models hdt,sv turbo V8 3lt 2lt calais royale vacationer blah blah blah etc

i brought my calais to years ago,rb30e,auto,done 160,000,non turbo, warrent, rego, fot $3000,i was stoakd,a vl is worth woteva it is worth,of corse condition affects the price, you can go out and buy a f*kn camry for $3000 so y isnt a vl worth that much, they are nice cars and and every1 has respect for them, they will neVer drop value, only go up in value, performance wise they are top range, what other car can make a good reliable 350hp out of a 21 year old SOHC Single turbo, famly luxary car that weighs close to 1600kgs. VL,S ARE PURE CLASS,ALWAYS HAVE BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
