Hey fellas i just wanted to know if anyone knows what stuff they use at the car wash to clean rims etc? Because i can never get my car as clean as what they do at the car wash. I asked a few of the guys who worked there, all they could tell me was "its chemicals".
So does anyone know anything?
cheers

they probably use stronger **** than we do....
wehn i was car detailing the amount of stuff we used to go through, armourall was like water there, used HEAPS per car, it was piled on, and left for a while, then it was wiped off, simple, and yeah....
my wheels come up mint, and ll i do, at the car wash, hit them with that presoak, then high pressure soap, then the foam brush then rinse off, get home, get teh toothbrush out and do inside the scallops thingy's and then chamis them dry, and use either autosol or that purple and green meguires poslish

ok , im not sure if you might know the car wash i worked at "wash n shop" ? its those car wash's in major shopping centers that you leave your car and get it washed while you shop.. hence the name LOL
well in short, the degreaser they used at this place, i was told was "illegal" and was too strong for commercial use! When i was training, mate told me not to leave it too long on old rims, or strains too long on the paint because it can peel it off!!! and we get in trouble...
so yea, the "chemicals" as you said is probably the best way to put it!
i use those $2 foam sprays u buy at "big w" "k mart" in the car care section, spray it on, and lifts all the mess up... drive home and i sit there with a rag and go over the rims and comes up nutzzzz
no need to spend alot to clean your car budd

I think i might just have to stick to the normal car care stuff from supercheap.

truth is, getting a $5 degreaser doesnt change much untill you get into the industrial grade stuff,
and no point going that strong,
your everyday car care products are more then enough

Come into my work and buy some Power Wheel Cleaner.
Final Inspection on Brunswick road
Spray on the wheels, then blast off the brake dust, then wash the wheel with your sponge ( I don't recomend sponges at all, microfibre mitt ftw ) with your soapy water solution, and rinse the wheel.
Mad_Wog don't know where you did " detailing " mate, but armor all is possibly the worst product you can use.

i ahvent used armourall in the vl for years, i stopped using it ages ago...
best thing ive been using latley is a microfiber cloth and warm water...
i have found armourall leaves the dashboard greasy to touch...
polyglaze dash and trim is MUCH better,
but ive got to water...

22-07-08, 18:40 GMT+10#13 When I was doing car washing/detailing what we used to do was:
-Rinse the wheels with water.
-Degrease them.
-Rinse them again.
-Wash them by hand with a sponge and the carwash soap.
-Rinse them yet again.
If they still didn't come out well then we:
-Degreased them with more concentrated degreaser.
-Rinse them.
-Use a special sort of acid (quite weak acid from memory) spray it on and don't let it sit to long, then rinse it off with the high pressure hose.
If they don't come clean after that then **** they're never coming clean.
Also remember, if you have chromies DON'T use degreaser, it stuffs up the finish, wash them by hand and use metal polish.
-Vince.
