guys just a quick one im neally ready to fir all the goodys into the wagon and so on but befor i do anything i want to sort out the diff, what i want to know is what gears are u running in the diff, and what times have u pulled with what power, as im just wondering if i should swap to a set of 3.7 or 3.9 because of the 2 speed, just your thoughts as its going to hit the track soon and im aiming for a 9 weather it be 9.0 or 9.99 thanks guys

hmm well i rekon u'd run at least 3.7s to get the power early? 3.45s take to long to wind out? and ur only looking for the speed over 400m..? is this in the wagon? would be ***n awesome to see a vl wagz run a 9 sec pass!! :P

work out wat slick size ur running also, using a moroso calculator factoring max power output, car weight, tyre size, convertor etc u can pinpoint wat diff ratio u wil need...

you have a twin cam that revs alot higher though, chalk and cheese. everyone uses 3.45 for a reason, for a 26 inch tall slick and a rb30 typically revs to 6500rpm, you can do around the 140mph mark at peak power...which you will need for a 9 . 28 inch tall slick 3.91 or 4.11's would be around the mark. Just depends where you peak power is though. The idea of going to a glide is to not magnify the torque in first gear with a small tyre, so lowing the diff gears is going to magnify the torque at the tyres again Quote: Originally Posted by DuFF-DuFF hmm well i rekon u'd run at least 3.7s to get the power early? 3.45s take to long to wind out? and ur only looking for the speed over 400m..? is this in the wagon? would be ***n awesome to see a vl wagz run a 9 sec pass!! :P The power early part is the torque converters job, slipping to get the motor up into its power band cheers darern

No one on this forum can tell you what diff ratio to use based on the information you have given, and by the sound of it, you are a long way off being able to choose one anyway. To get the correct diff ratio as darren pointed out, you will need to know your tire size(slick) in diameter, what rpm you want to rev your engine to, how fast you want to go, and factor in converter slip. The same diff gears won't work for a SOHC engine running 9.9's on a 26" tire as a twin cam crossing the line 1500rpm higher with a 28" tire at 9.0. Make some goals and decisions, and then you can choose your gears. Cheers.....................6BOOST
