hey guys now that i have my calais i am starting to plan the build and have started to get quotes as to an engine rebuild just wondering if what i have been quoted is overpriced? So far the best quote i have had to rebuild the motor with forged pistons new factory crank and rods, all the machining etc and fit a rb25 head is 7200 for the finished motor is this reasonable? It also included a gtr oil pump.

i havent heard of too many people going stroking 25s... only 26s
$7200 sounds like quuuuite a lot? I dunno?
factory/standard rods? meh, and a GTR pump? presuming its a 25 you'll most likely be revving the sh*t out of it and the pump wont like that (even if you get a crank collar).
it all depends on how much power u want though, what turbo are u getting, the transmission, how high will it rev etc.
hard to say how much a rebuild should be..
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
if i run a gtr oil pump and keep boost under 22psi the factory crank and rods are good enough there are vlt's running 9's on stock rods and cranks. as long as you supply them with enough oil. but 7200 still seems high to me

"stock crank"...mmm yeah - stock rods..dont think so
and u have to remember those are RB30s not RB25s...mind you, who knows what the RB25 is capable of
RB30 pumps are fine aswell.

The engine is an rb30 block getting fitted with an rb25 head correct??
If so the price sounds about right, depending on how much block work they need to do i guess. Are they supplying the head or are you??
It's probably an ok price, they might just be alowing a little extra for any hick ups??
they have to do a bit to fit that head. like setting up the twin cam timing belt.

bad example..
that motor has since "destroyed itself" from what i last heard (?) and motor is getting rebuilt???
i suppose standard rods...that get 'shotpeened' will do the job... but a decent set of rods only costs $1000
hey mate .. im not the most knowledgeable person on here when it cums to waht ur asking but off the top of my head 7200 sounds a bit steep, exp how ur supplying the head ... and yea as burgo88 said ud be better off just going rb25 motor straight up!! but id say maybe take a step back and dont get to far ahead of ya self .. 22psi is quite alot of poundage exp with an rb25,and 10's are pretty fast,as im sure ur aware ud need to rebuild ya auto to a high standart, get a trans brake,do ya diff its all $ ... alot of $ exp how ya looking for a job atm ...
i have a job and the money but im doing it slowly and i just need a new job i want 10s when i get to the stage of it not being my daily and im converting to manual. Im sick of autos.
