hey all, I am thinking about buying a vlct and driving it on my L's and with the new P plate laws im not allowed to drive a turbo so convert it to a n/a and then covert it back when I get off my P's. Is this possible, and what will I need to do?? and is it worth it.

it would most likely be cheaper to buy a vl calais, and then buy a turbo motor later on, probably work out cheaper aswell with the price calais turbos sell for

i agree with boostn vl if u buy a vlct original 1 then it will be worth more in the long run and will have the turbo diff box and brake set up and will have an a8 turbo block with pistons and all the other turbo gear so all u have to do is change exhaust manifold ecu and cross over

Buy a slapper NA... thrash it until you turn 22... then either buy a proper VL turbo or convert your cheap thing that youll probably end up smashing.

just drive the vlct on ur p's, keep it looking stock, dont put a huge refrigerator on the front and if you do end up getting picked on worry about it then

ill ahve to disagree with the brake comment... vl brakes are next to useless... and im reaching the limits of the turbo ones now... when i get a bit more power, ill probably upgrade them again lol

thanks everyone, i can see it being better in the long run getting a vl turbo and removing the turbo, but coverting an N/A to turbo later it wouldn't be able to run as much boost would it?

Yeh brakes were a issue wen i 1st started driving VL's, I owned an old HX ute B4 my Vl and those brakes ****ted on the VL's... My gear box is a bit iffy 2... the mx7 box is a lot better and stronger.... Go vlt and swap out motors with a n/a... give it a hiding until ur 22 swap slap the T motor in and u wont no urself...

decompress the motor and it should be fine, all depends on what your plans are on doing to it, apparently the only difference between the pistons are the shape, so either way if you want to go further your going to have to rebuild anyway most likely, depending on what you want to run Quote: Originally Posted by ol skool Yeh brakes were a issue wen i 1st started driving VL's, I owned an old HX ute B4 my Vl and those brakes ****ted on the VL's... if ya really want a vl, find a cheap neat na for now, if your still on your L's now you have a long time till your off your P's... in that time save your money and then buy something turbo readdy later on that way you will have the turbo and a fair bit of money saved to make it how ya want it and you can save some money now aswell

mate if you buy a vl turbo and pull the turbo off it will be the most gutless thing on the face of the earth because it will be running lower compression, i would either A, buy tha vlct and just drive it or B, buy a N/A calais and convert it after getting off your p's

If you were to buy one turbocharged.. and wanted to go to NA. Remove exhaust manifold and turbocharger. Remove oil and coolant lines that run from turbo to block. You would have to get some bungs to put into the block to stop oil and coolant comming out. Need a Na exhaust manifold which would be very common to find. Need the intake pipe Na. The inlet manifold you could leave. Injectors in turbos are bigger with a different ecu. I would leave those in it. Might use a bit more fuel than a NA. Also exhaust might have to be changed? When you think about it, it would a pretty simple task to do from turbo to NA. Realistically you only need the exhaust manifold and turbo off and everything else can stay. The pistons in the vl turbo's are different to NA so it will have lower compression = less power on the nA. However the NA's are gutless anyway so im sure it wouldn't make that much difference between **** all power and **** all power especially when your learning to drive
