Hey all, ok my vl only gets about 250kms out of a tank! and my mechanic told me i have non original injectors.. i have no idea if they are turbo injectors, or just aftermarket? does anyone know what type they are? if so, would this cause more fuel consumption? Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

no turbo,, turbo injectors have brown tops not black not sure if there OG or not but.. get you A/F checked out and you timing done,, you could be running rich causing it to use more fuel

nah, all that has been done... timing is done, thats when i found out about the injectors, my mechanic did the timing, full dizi check (crank angle sensor etc), and checked the electrical points in my AFM and said they were a little off, but its not enough to be getting that low out of a tank.. i dont really have all the cash in the world to keep giving it to him, i wanna change or have ready as much as i can before i give it in again... anyone know what injectors they are?

I have a set of turbo injectors that are aftermarkets, and the top of them is black like those above except they have a blue band around the body of them. Check your coolant temp sensor and as well check your temp guage. If you have a dodgey sensor or you have a car thats not getting up to around half on the guage, its running to cold. If its not getting up to around half you will have a dodgey thermostat. Also check your cold start mechanism hasnt ceased. Also common and will cause a high idle scenario and can also be the cause of poor fuel economy!

To be sure you could always rip 1 of them off the rail and get it flow tested

Simple things like correct tyre pressure can save you heaps of fuel... definatley not a genuine injector but as pmac said you could always get them tested...

Also how old is your oxy sensor? The vls chew fuel like nothing else if they are dead.

rev your car up to 2000rpm, watch the diagnostic lights, they must flash both at the same time at about 5 flashes per 10 seconds, if not the AFM mixture is out.

Those lights are meant to indicate the a/f ratio is off not the AFM mixture, could be millions of things causing that, you could try and correct it with the AFM screw but he is never going to fix his level of richness just with the AFM scew.

As previously stated original turbo injectors are brown tops and NA are cream!!! What I am saying is that there are aftermarket injectors, rated the same available for VLT'S that are black, like yours. Yours may be a little low wbut it shouldnt effect it that much. BTW half on the guage translates to around 82 deg c. As stated by others, check your oxy sensor in the exhaust dump from the turbo. If it is playing up then your car wont be using closed loop to full effectiveness and it will cause higher fuel consumption. Also it may pay to check the cat converter. Has it dropped any power of late? Due to age they do have a tendency to suddenly fail and cause a partial blockage which can cause it to use more fuel. Generally though you will notice a loss of power! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.
