My auto has been giving me the sh1ts lately, especially driving it to work. the auto wont change into 3rd gear until your doing 80 km/h and sometimes you need to put the lever to second then back into drive for it to change, also over drive wont engage until your doing 110km/h and sometimes i have to click the over drive button a few times aswel. it gets annoying driving around town doing 60 km/h and not being able to get 3rd. I was wondering if there is anyway of adjusting the shifting points of the auto?

Sounds like something has died inside the gearbox?

yeah im getting a bit stressed about it, but it shifts nice and firm still and has no tell tail signs of failure, like it still operates properly but changes gears heaps later. I also have a 3000rpm stall aswel, but that should effect it

Hmmm, stallie might contribute a bit? Maybe get it checked out by another CT user or take it to a mechanics? had the same problem with my gearbox in my vlc, except only in first and with over drive. Got it fixed/rebuilt and it drives a sh*tload better. Turns out the clutch packs+regulator and pretty much the whole gearbox was shagged. Best of luck mate

you can try and loosen off the kickdown cable, also make sure nothing has bent any of its brackets and pulled it tighter

doesn't the modulator have something to do with shifting? My trimatic was taking ages to shift. I gave it a service and changed the modulator and it as good as ever.

i had this problem a while back, was vaccum hose to gearbox split, check all ur vac hoses to gearbox and the vaccum modulator on gearbox. good luck

Im with VLXGTS, a split vacuum hose is what it could be, or a faulty modulator. There is also a screw to adjust on the modulator normally, so try turning it and test drive.
