Hows it going? Im about to convert to straight lpg and i wont be using the vl ecu/ afm etc.
I was wondering how the auto gearbox is going to operate not having the ecu anymore?
do people have any issues with the gear changes etc? or does the little gearbox computer thingy operate individually to the main ecu?
Cheers

Gday man, you need to run the vl tps switch and sensor or another tps that works the same way.
vl auto ecu uses the tps to control shifts and kick down.
what ecu and tps u planning on runnin?

if you are thinking of making over 200-220rwkw then dont bother, as you will want to get a manual valve body so you can change gears, otherwise the auto will just flare between changes.

cheers for the replies people, ill adapt the vl tps to the gra throttle body.
as for ecu etc, im using a nissan patrol dizzy with some form of ignition booster, should work well hopefully.

how have you modified the patrol dizzy to boost retard?

ill mod the dizzy so its locked and just set the timing to something that will work, and you can get msd's that retard the timing a certain amount per psi and ill probably get one of those.
but more then likely ill use a megaquirt to run the timing, my mate has had great success on his ford 250 straight lpg turbo so ill probably go his route, but cash is tight and im just keen to get the car running on lpg to save on running costs, then better ignition will follow.
but im hoping to get away with running a locked points dizzy for time been.
i just really want to get rid of the afm/ stock computer

afm and stock computer will be a much better setup than a locked points distributor man!! you will find the car will run hot, be a pig at idle and cruise rpm and will feel a **** load more laggier with the locked dizzy.
they are also pretty unreliable from when i trialled a similar setup.
i just use a microtech and the oem distributor these days, so much simplier and straight forward. add a 6A cdi system and its unbeatable.
