Hey all, well when i got my car, it was running so rich that i was only getting 90kms out of a full tank! at one stage after alot of playing around i had it getting on average 300-350 out of a tank... but now im struggling to get over 200 :S iv talked to a few mates, and dont really have the cash at the moment to take it back to my mechanic, my vl has aftermarket injectors, and extractors, and i have been told that this will burn more fuel, but i doubt it will get me from 300 to 200 ? any thoughts? thanks alot

Aftermarket injectors on an N/A? Why? What is their CC or flow rate? Theres no point having aftermarket injectors in an N/A (unless their stock replacement non-genuine items).

What aftermarket injectors are they? What colour and part numbers? Off the top of my head these things will cause lower kms to a tank. Coolant temp sensor O2 sensor Throttle position sensor Air Flow meter Perished fuel tank breather hoses Fuel pressure regulator Oversize exhaust (no backpressure) They'd be more, but thats all I know of. They would probably be the main things to look at if you havent already. Buy yourself a manual and work through each sensor and how to test them. You'll save a fair few coin doin it yourself. How does the car run anyway? Is it sluggish and slow? Is there lots of black smoke? This might help as well. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

thanks guys, nah they came with the car, they arnt turbo injectors, or stock i dont no what the flow rate is to tell you the truth my fuel pump makes alot of noise when its low, like a guzzling sound, like its struggling to pump the fuel, but fuel pressure is ok? afm is ok, need a new one... but its only a little off...

my NA had a flogged coolant temp sensor causing it to fuel up badly i was getting 200km tops from a full tank. Definately get that looked at man i'd almost put money on it being shagged

can u smell fuel whilst driving?? i was having this problem for a bit, they narrowed it down to fuel pressure, then i noticed a damp patch at the bottom of my tank, after checking the whole fuel line all the hoses at the tank end of the line were rat **** and practically crumbled away when u squeezed them. apparently with the leak i was losing pressure or some **** and now after replacing them all car is running a lot beter and getting more mileage out of a full tank.

hmmm, nah there is no fuel smell, at first there was alot of smell out the rear end of the car when it was running, but that was because 30% of the fumes coming out was unburnt petrol !!!!!!! that problem was fixed, but this new problem i keep getting is that, when the tank gets to about 1/4, when my car gets to about 5km, or slowing down to a set of lights or something, the car idles REALYY rough!!!!! but if i give it a tiny bit of gas, its fine.. and when i take off its as good as its ever been... any thoughts?

get your timing checked aswell... air intake or fuel filter not blocked or split?? could be a range of things man..

timing is 15 degrees btdc its fine, did it recently new afm on it, cant be that either fuel filter is something i have never really delt with :S the truth is, i have no idea what or where it is ..... i chaged the interal fuel pump and got a brand new external pump, IF anything it may be the filter... any help on my little blonde moment?
