I have had a search and cant find any info but im wonderinf if an rb25 sump will fit on a rb30. The reason im wondering is i am putting an rb30 into my torana and have found a factory 25 sump with the hump at the back of the sump which would fit in my torry. These sumps are considerably less than the castlemaine sumps and are factory. So any info would be great

I think the sump needs some clearance grinding done due to the longer stroke ,nothing major or one of those "plates" that space the sump away from the block .Not to sure but i know they dont fit without a nasty sounding noise LOL

What is this rear sumped RB25 from? I have never heard of such a thing. You also know of the GQ Patrol sump I assume? Rear pan but very deep.

Yeh i have heard of the patrol sump but they are pretty rare. The rear hump sump is from a place in america im pretty sure its a dealership and its heaps cheaper than anything else i have seen. So does anyone know if it will fit??

I bought a patrol sump many years ago ($200 with pick up) to put an RB30 into my LJ before any one was making them for sale. By the time i cut it up enough to fit and make a larger capacity well (approx 7lt i think it was) i might as well of cut up the VL one off the motor and saved my money. What model Torry you looking at? Quote: Originally Posted by vk30t Yeh i have heard of the patrol sump but they are pretty rare. Im looking to put it in an lc. A guy one one of the forumns used the sump on his rb25 into uc setup and it needed hardly any mods. I definatly would use a patrol sump but they are heaps rare and expensive. If i cant fit this sump ill just have to use a castlemaine sump..

Ive got an rb30et in my uc and whoever put the motor in welded the bottom of a 202 sump onto the top (block end) of a vl sump. doesnt look the prettiest but it works and has plenty of capacity.....

I take it you are talking about the 200ZX (RB20) sump? Honestly, I don't reckon you will get much help on this specific sump because it is rare as, almost unheard of in oz. Since RB30's are way more common than 20/25 i'd tend to think people wouldn't be experimenting with these sumps much (ie much easier to just go and find an RB30 sump). That said, someone out there must have tried the swap.... Can I ask where you would be sourcing the VZ sump from and how much as I'm looking for one myself? I actually have a spare GQ sump here that I was thinking of using, but as was mentioned above, they are hard to find, expensive and are an odd shape which will require work to fit, so I'm probably better to flog it off for a few $$$ and put the money into something that will fit straight up, or save the bucks and chop up an RB30 sump.

Im not sure if its the 200zx sump but i do have the part numbers and the place to get them form To get the sump pickup and gasket it is 330 delivered to your door from Washington in the US. Its a rear hump sump and fits onto rb25's so if the 20 and 25 are interchangeable im not sure which one it comes off from factory. The guy that found teh info is putting a 25 into his uc. I have found a second hand sump from the rod shop for a good deal so im not really worried about finding out if this sump will fit on a 30 anymore

These are the part no's that I have: 11110-20P00 RB20DET Oil Pan (Rear Sump) 15050-20P03 RB20DET Oil Pickup The only issue might be that there is enough tolerance to fit an RB20 sump on RB25, or RB25 onto RB30, but to go straight from RB20 to RB30 might not work. Can you tell me who this supplier is?
