got a bit of a weird one, my car has developed a shake at idle. weird thing is it comes and goes. the engine runs fine, it's like something is out of balance and it goes through the whole car. does it in gear or in neutral, car has a manualised 4spd auto with a 2500 stall. any help appreciated. thanks.

I would be thinking the stall converter's on the way out if its doing it in gear and in neutral?? My mates VN had a similar problem and was the converter.

bugger, ok. i don't know if it makes any difference but it doesn't do it while you're driving. only at idle basically.

its jut your idle is too low up the idle abit but not too much and i bet you it wont do it also it can be worse when you just start the car as its cold and may stall but once you put the idle up a TAD it will be right... also it can just be a ruff idle because your plugs or leads are gone aswell... Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

the car still runs fine, it idles at about 800-900 rpm, aftermarket mgmt. i'm positive it's not engine/tune related. something is out of wack. does it cold or hot, randomly.

mmm as i said mine did it and it was just the leads

Engine mounts or mount may be stuffed? could be a possibilty

yeah it's definately not engine related, as said it runs fine. was thinking maybe a mount but being that it comes and goes makes me think it's not. anyway, i'll take it in and get it looked at.

god help you if you follow the replies youve been getting here... you could be up for engine mounts, a stall convertor etc. Start cheap and simple. It sounds like it has an engine missfire. Check your AFM, plugs, leads, etc. One of my cars has a miss on idle at the moment too, shakes the car a little but as soon as you get it to about 1100rpm its gone. If this path shows you nothing then look elsewhere, but it sounds like a miss.

LOL at stall convertor, its not going to be the stall convertor, it sounds like just a small miss at idle that comes and goes, engine can still run fine under load but have a snall miss at idle that shakes the car. Start simple, plugs and leads and then go from there.
