ok, ive read that boost guages are mechanical... im wondering, is there a way to convert the signal to electric? i need an electric sender

You can buy units that convert it yes. I dont know where but the ones i have seen are a little black box with a vac line in one end and wires out the other.

may i ask why u need an electric boost gauge? i thought some of those Saber, Defi gauges were electric with stepper motors mind you they arent cheap

yeah why do you need electric?? Mechanical would be more acurate anyway

for a little project im thinking about... i just need the sender, not the guage... thanks guys, ill send off a few emails to see whats available for my special needs matty, have they been at like dk smith or jaycar or something?

i seen pics of them only on the net when i as looking at digital guages. But Jaycar would be a very good start!

my guess would be a map sensor to trigger the stepper motor.

I wouldn't say by any stretch that an electric gauge is 100% accurate, or way better than a mechanical gauge. It's only as good as it's calibration and the wiring, which brings issues like improper grounding, signal noise etc into the mix. On topic: there are heaps of options in terms of pressure transducers, what you need might be determined by the output you require and the environment it's being used in. Probably the most obvious option, as mentioned above would be a MAP sensor.

Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

all i want is a sensor to tap into the plenum, so i can get a reading on a multimeter, if thats possible, then ill be quite happy to persue what i wanna do...

My autometer boost gauge is electric it use's a map sensor for the boost signal. The reason i went electric is so i can have gauges on the bonnet and when i dont want them on there all i have to do is unplug them, Same story with my water and oil gauges.
