Hay.
Just want to know a little about putting a T350 in a VLT. I was looking at a T400 box but found they are alittle too heavy and power hungry for what i need.
I 'Guess' ill be making around 300hp and have been told a stock built T350 wont even stress at that power without taking much from the motor, Yeh?
Do they like having a full manual valve body in them? and easy to get?
Would the stock V8 stall be useable behind the Rb?
Im guessing the rod shop would be the best place to get a plate to adapt it behind the RB? but will it fit easy in the tunnel of the VL?
The stock shifter would be a no go im 90% sure, so a BnM shifter is going to work well?
custom tailshaft isnt much of a problem.
Overall is it a worthwhile thing to do? Oh i also have a good T350 sitting the shed i can use so looking around for one is not needed.
thanks for any help with this.
Matt.
IMO for 300hp, by the time u get custom everything and a stock built 350, u could of had a decent built jatco without the hassles
seeing as the t350 is only a 3 speed you may aswell get a 3 speed jatco built and not have all the hassles of mixing components.
u can get keas 350kw 3 speeds jatcos for about $2000

yeh but it's all the associated parts for a 3spd jatco that add up too. All those parts such as tailshaft etc, you will have to get for the 350 as well.
outright cost, a 350 is cheaper as a box, and much stronger.

yeah your right on that too forget about the Tshaft mod
best thing to do is find out whats exactly needed and how much it will set you back, then make a decision
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Really? You may want to add 1k, then another 1k for converter then another $700 for the tailshaft.
Keas 4 speed would be a better option if you wanted to save money as tailshaft wouldnt need modified.

i never said a complete kit. either way he needs a converter and Tshaft mod
and last time i looked a 350kw 3 speed cost this, unless his price has gone up, because i was trying to choose between the 350 3 speed and 220 4 speed, both are priced the same

So, "If" money wasnt a problem, why would you go 3speed 350KW over a 4speed 350KW?
people talk about the 3 speeds being so much better, But is that becuase of cost wise?
That group buy never even happened hence the only reason for reduced prices.
As stated by Yeti, the box alone is over 3k plus converter and tailshaft as a minimum to get it in the car. No change from over $4500k.

3 speeds have bigger shafts in them in the Jatco's and are less likely to twist in the body of the gearbox. Three speeds in general be it t350,400, C10,C9 are a simpler gearbox than the 4 spds and have a lot more aftermarket parts available for them.
If you are going to go the route of t350 then i suggest jumping past it and going to a T400. Shafts in them are bigger and stronger again. Only weakness is the sprag but this will go anyway if it is set up as a manual valve! Cost wise will be fairly similar but it will take more power!
can any of you not read the "RRP" meaning that is what they cost to the public.
i got a 220kw 4 speed which cost me $2200 + $395 for a stall, all up cost $2590 shipped to me
RRP on the 220kw 4 speed is $2390, i cant see how that price quide is wrong
MATTY - the best thing to do is ring KEAS and get a qoute from them, talk to the experts
ive added my 2c so im gonna step down from this thread

Some one might want to tell the old bloke who drove a 4spd to a 10.5 last friday night that, not certain on power but it would be at least that at the wheels.

mate just get a trimatic built cost 3500 with converter and bell housing.......need i say anything more rated at 650hp
paul from keas comes into my work on a regular basis and ull find he doesnt do transmissions any more he wants out, he is okly doing trannys for the big guys like matokas and so on or what ever they are called, but he has more contact than what u could poke a stick at so he will be able to point u in the right direction
