hey, my friend has a berlina that she got from a local dealership that has been sitting around for about 7 years and it is running pretty bad. idle is ok, a bit rough but constant and it free revs ok but in gear it just gets really loud like a tractor and seems to be missing. you have to hold your foot flat to get it to accelerate at all and it takes ages to build speed. what has been replaced: -fuel tank, in tank pump (tank was rusted out) -fuel filter -cleaned and checked everything, checked ignition timing and timing belt position, changed leads and plugs, dizzy cap and rotor looks ok -afm looks pretty new and tested ok with multimeter -ran some of that toyota injector cleaner through it next was going to do CAS and AFM just to check, then maybe injectors and maybe even a blocked muffler? its weird that its quiet at idle but under load sounds like it is coming straight out of the cat. any other ideas?

change the coil for a known working one, then check the dizzy

sorry i forgot that, we did change the coil with a new one, i think the dizzy will be the next thing we try

i checked my afm when my car played up and the readings were ok,but it ran **** until i mucked around with the mixture a few times. now its fine. still has the vl miss,but runs fine no smoke and plenty of power

my mate had same problem . i sust it out it was his injectors i changed them . runs like a dream . has it got enuf compression cause it could be a valve or piston ring
