Hey guys i called APA today and had a chat about lpg tanks and mods etc. Now from what they have told me there is no gain going any bigger than the standard 8mm line since the tank outlet is 8mm. They also reckon the standard tank can flow 11ltrs a min and have had 1 flowing enough gas to support a 850hp chev ? so why does everyone appear to be saying it can only support 200rwkw on there vl turbo? They also said they can make a SPECIAL tank with twin outlets and lock offs from factory but your looking around $700-800 and a faily long wait but even then they said id be wasting my time since the single outlet tank is all thats needed. Im starting to think these blokes love the single outlet idea but before i choose between a tank id like to know what setup people are running to supply the correct amount of gas to two b2 convertors. looking at 380-400rwkw. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

the tank isnt the restriction. its the lockoff on the tank - but i think thats what you meant anyway lol. did they state what lockoff or if any mods were done to it? the lockoff can be drilled out slightly to improve the flow. the other restriction is the converters. if you run too much gas through a converter or converters that are not capable of keeping up, they will freeze up. the gas line itself isnt the restriction apparently. so to keep it safe, its best to run twin outlet tank (which is an easy mod and still legal - see twin outlet thread) with a T piece and single line to twin converters. that will be enough to support 400-450rwkw.

thanks for the info dude ive made up my mind and ive got the tank arrangment sorted, im going to pay the extra and get a APA special made with twin outlets. just regarding what you posted above about twin outlets being tee peiced and 1 single line run to the convertors? why wouldnt u run individual 8mm lines to each convertor ? isnt that the hole idea since u dont want to have another restriction in the setup, this time being the supply line ?

Is that price for a new tank all setup, or for them to modify your one?

peekn, because its not the line thats a restriction. the smallest point is apparently 4mm in the lock off. http://www.performancelpg.com/viewtopic.php?t=66 theres some info there about the same issue i have heard the newer tanks have larger lockoffs, but apparently not much larger, maybe this is the case thats helped them support more power through a single line single lock off system? multiple converters would still need to be used though

They will not modify tanks, so you have to order it brand new and they need a deposit first since its a special tank and not many people buy them. I was led to beleive it would come with all fittings for that price. However i will enquire once again to make sure im getting everything included. Ill post a reply when i know the exact price for tank and all fittings.

And yes you need twin convertors. It all can be done with the standard tank very easily as everyone has done but mods are needed that arnt legal.

nah it can be done legally. twin lockoffs will support 400-40rwkw you can get a combination fill/service valve that you can swap on the tank. its legal and a fairly simple mod. the details are in the twin lock off thread
