what ecu? have you already got a programmable computer or need that too? tuning itself varies heaps but most places will charge like 200 an hour for dyno time, and allow about 2 hours for tuning

dude you made 4 thread all the same.. pretty sure its 160ish for the 1st hour and set rates each hour after it

you can try MSC Performance. they do it for 90 for first hour and50 each hour after that.

please don't make multiple threads again! why not ring and ask if your fair dinkum, that way you get it straight from the horses mouth with no bs!

^^ Yep Thats what I'd be doing. Ring around and get some prices. A full tune from scratch will set you back $500+ where im from.

Its a joke how much most of the "Guru" workshops charge to tune a car,for **** sake, these guys spend so much time on their dyno's tuning day how can they charge a heavy bill when most times some cars are running fine and the owner just wants a bit more power, what a joke I'm sure that when tuning a vlt with a Microtech(example)they could have it done in an hour tops, for **** sake they have a computer screen that gives them all the info after every ramp, but they all stuff around and and take their time.. I was told that theres a shop here in NSW that has a set price and thats it,if its on there all day then they wear it,and mind you the price is very fair... Mark Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Mark well its their shop and thats the way it rolls- but if its honest shop-they will know that even the same combo is not the same when it comes to dyno tunning- every setup is different- compare/figure this one out - tune a rb30 with a aftermarket ecu $500 -$600.00 vs tune a ls1/ls2 with your computer but there software for $1000.00 to $1500.00? Thanks Nick-- Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I had my car tuned at JPC and while I'm not posting up the price, I can tell you I was pleasantly surprised. I budgeted for $500 and it didn't end up anywhere near that.

It will also depend if you have any dramas, etc. Set yourself a budget like Yeti did and anything you don't spend out of that is a bonus.

well you could try and save a dollar, have some backyarder try and blow your engine, better off paying someone reputable, even if it is more, if you trust your engine with them, you might actually end up saving money because they have the experience.

The tune will only be as good as the person tuning the car, so depending on what ecu you have/choose to buy will depend where you choose to take the car and how good the tune will be, Remeber there are a heap of places that do tuning, so you shouldnt limit yourself to VL based workshops. Make sure sertain parts of the tune are pretty much spot on like cold starts ect. its one of thowes things where you got to bite the bullet and have faith in the tuner in what there doing., if they dont know what there doing it they could cause engine harm and cost lots in dyno time, but if you take it somewhere that are familar with the ecu and your setup, they can work on other maps from previous customers and fix it up to suit your application which in turn means less dyno time. shaun

Mark probably because most dynos cost in excess of 60,000 dollars. they dont pay for themselves mate. not to mention workshop cost like power, paying the actual tuner, all the programs, training and computers. its not cheap and easy mate. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Your wright. I think there worth a little more then 60g's. Where I get mine tuned they had to replace one of the retarders. cost $16,000+

Exactly right. You aren't just paying for some dude to sit in your car and play Solitaire. There are other cost's that they factor in, the main one I'd say being the huge cost of the Dynomometer!
