hey guys, i know its hard to believe but i did search and couldnt come up with anything?
head in my car is rooted and i found another complete motor cheap, and close to me, but its out of an R31, now most people say they are identicle, and that all R31 motors have oil/water line provisions. but i have read on a site that the heater hoses are diff, one being 5/8, the other 3/4. only thing is, this was on an RB30DET guide/site, and the author just wrote skyline and commodore, so he may have been talking bout the RB25 block (donor motor which the head he used came off).
anyone put an R31 motor in their VL? any hiccups?
PS motor is currently NA, but will be going turbo soon, but still want hi-comp. i realise this may be in the wrong section, maybe move it to tech section?
cheers,
Ben

Hows it going mate, on my old vl i used an rb30 engine from a r31 skyline as a replacement in my vl and everything worked fine and as I recall having no issues with the heater hoses etc.

If the heater hoses are different... buy different heater hoses.

the rear heater outlet fitting in the block is different size, but you can unscrew the old fitting with a big shifter/spanner, no real dramas if you have the old engine still.

the heater hoses are a pain but money and supercheap will help also balancer has to be changed if useing air con as skyline uses pk and vl uses v belt on air con and one air con mount bolt is in a differnt spot also one pasenger side eingen mount bolt hole is in diferent spot just die grind mount but and i think the power steer never lined up right it was a abaution but it was one of them slap up turbo set ups and it just wouldnt die
