How can you get your windows / windscreens crystal clear? Mine have that foggy look at the moment because I havnt cleaned them in a long time. Its like a grimy film on the inside. Usually all I do is get out the windex and some paper towel and go crazy. The problem is that the job is never 100%. It looks better than not doing it but it isnt crystal clear in all areas and I have to go over and over it to get rid of the mistyness. Its worse at night time when its cold as you get the condensation that shows up huge streaks. Does anyone have any PROVEN tips for me? Should I use different products? Brett

When i did spray painting, i was always told the best way to get them clean was with newspaper and water. I normally clean my windows like that and it does a good job. Use one wet piece all scrunched up, and use a dry piece to wipe it dry. Keep rubbing until its clear as

I did hear about using newspaper. Something to do with the Ink. Thanks for the tips. Any more?

Might have to give the newspaper a shot myself, my windscreen loves to cloud over on cold mornings or at night. demister clears it up pretty quick but there's still plenty of marks where it looks like it wasn't wiped properly when it was cleaned. I use Meguires glass cleaner too, though I think the bottle I have may be off, might buy a new one to be sure.

Nope non smoker and no one is allowed to smoke in the car. The metho sounds alright. Wouldnt try it on tinted windows but yeah thanks for the info.

I'm interested in hearing what the pros have to say about this actually, I hate my windows, on my side windows its like water just sticks to the window and makes it really hard to see at night... its kinda sad and pathetic when you gotta fucken pull over and get a couple serviettes out of the glove box to wipe the window down... lol Someone one recommended tooth paste to remove scratches but its a load of shit. I wanna know what the pro's use, like glass replacing mobs and shit use...

It probably doesn't help with keeping them clean, but I've always found that my windows get more film on them after I've used armour all on the dash. maybe if you're having a consistently foggy windscreen this could be a cause?

Im a printer by trade and im here to tell you the ink in newsprint is deigned to repel water therefore giving it a squeegee effect and paper is absorbent so the ink pushes the water into the paper area causing it to absorb any excess water leaving your windows clean and dry! Still pretty sure i'd take my chance with rainx brand anti fogging cleaner from any auto shop or if your a tight arse try using dishwashing liquid on a damp rag to clean the inside of your windscreen.... Its an old trick used to keep your car from fogging in the snow! Hope this helps.

I know exactly what you're on about. If you're not careful it leaves foggy dots all over the windscreen - I now spray it onto a cloth before I do the dash to avoid this.

This method is flawless..but takes a while. Use 1 part vinegar to 3 parts water, Use newspaper to apply, then use a new bit to clean it off dry (newsprint prevents the streaking). Get a razor blade and (carefully) go over every inch of the outside of the windscreen, You wont scratch it unless your an idiot (then you deserve it!) youll be surprised how much **** comes off. You can do it on the inside too but only if it isnt tinted! Go buy some Rainx and go sick on the outside of your screen, follow the instructions, use a rag that wont leave anything behind and use a bit of elbow grease to get rid of all traces you can see. Only do strokes in the up down direction (as in from bonnet to roof). for the inside theres some other anti fog **** i cant remember the name of (in the Rainx range as well). If your screen is "razor blade clean" then you shouldnt fog up or have to clean it hardly as often. This is how i do it and it comes up like new.. Also if its in an older car, when you park it at night in the colder months, leave a rag covering the vents near the windscreen, this helps prevent the "rising condensation" that takes you all the way to work with the fan going flat out to clear..

ive stopped using armour all over a year ago, its too greasy, i now do a few things to the windscreen. use polyglaze dash and trim care with a microfiber cloth if im detailing the car and want it perfect (when i do this, i clean in the airvents and all, so its not often) when im normally washing and cleaning the car, i us a different microfiber cloth and WATER and i keep a third m/f cloth so when im stuck at railway crossings, i just quickly go over the dash to clean it... now, regarding the windows, when i was doing car detailing, they used watered down windex, and 2 cloths, one to clean the window, one to clean the streaks, you keep rubbing till its crystal clear... now i just use meguires and newspaper, and yet another m/f cloth which is in the glovebox.... mind you, cleaning windows is the worse thing about owning a car

If you wanna do it the pro way then clay bar all the external glass and give it a polish with a medium/light cutting compound such as Menzerna. This works really well ! The RainX products also work pretty well if your on a budget. Have heard of people just using a damp microfibre cloth to wipe down the insides. Another really good glass cleaner is "Stoners invisible glass" highly recomended for the insides. If you have any medium scratches then the pro's use Cerium Oxide in a slurry form on a felt polishing tip. See whats best for you. Hope this helps.

im skipping everyones posts too!! lol the theory behind newspaper is that the ink acts as an abrasive.. like sandpaper.. and thats why u get such a clear finish! which isnt good if ur windows are tinted, as it scratches the tint!! so, dont use newspaper on tint!! ruins it!! also, windex ruins ur tint too.. its based with amonia and will make ur tint fade... i hate windows! i can never get them clean!! but thats my experience lol
