I need to replace my lowered springs and want to see what height your cars are sitting at.
After I put new Monroe GT gas shocks in, my ride height went to sh1t - the result is a VL that looks like it has a lift kit!
With the old shocks it sat nicely, but no longer, so out they go. They are "Sabre" brand springs. Never heard of them, can't find anything about them on the net either.
All the rest of the suspension has been replaced with new stuff, and when the car finally gets on the road it will be rolling on 18 or most likely 19 inch wheels as I wanna run the fattest, stickiest rubber I can. Guards have been rolled and pan hard rod installed. Group A front bar. Car will be a daily driver.
If you could post a pic that best shows your ride height and list your spring and shock combo that would be much appreciated.
coil overs man, if you want it exactly right get the ability to tweak, camber tops aswell but not essential. have a look at alex's old pics. its the only way to go. you can pick your own spring/damper rate to what your running and how you drive.
I'll try get some photos of mine and add them to this post (I'm sure I had some photos, don't where they've gone though), Dobi lows, 17" wheels, but I'm not sure what shocks are in it..
Damnit Mike. That's all I'll say.
NZ VL com - the springs are staying in the car til I get new ones - gotta save up for them I need the car to roll cos it will be goin to the paint shop as soon as i get my sh1t sorted.
hsvhel - yes, coilovers would be the ideal solution, its just the cost thats prohibitive. $350 or something for springs versus $1000 plus for coilovers. This is a shoestring build thats gone way over time and budget and I just wanna get it on the road. Sick of my sh1t jappa! I already have the new shocks in and Nolathane strut tops.
Cheers S1KVL - thats pretty much the height I'm aiming for. So those are Kings superlows?
Just out of interest Alex if you're reading...how many times did you adjust your coilovers?
Keep the pics coming boys.

Every time the car went somewhere for major work I wound the front up 30-40mm so they could get it on the hoist without too much mucking around. As it sits now it takes around 30mins to get it on a hoist

255/35R19 Continental Conti Sport Contact's on the rear... I reckon you wouldn't fit much wider on a VL rear without major work
I've had coilovers in my last 3 daily drivers (all japs) and I wouldn't do it any other way. I run my cars higher for the 3 months over winter so I can fit snow chains and low for the rest of the year

Is that the guy with the gen walky down in Hastings with 355 engine that is a sick car.
Calais3L, is that your 2L?! I couldn't even think of spending money like that on mine.
The wheels on DOSEIT are ****ing awesome.
Final comment (I think) is 255s are massive must be no room at all with them in your guards!
Oh if I post mine up, it'll be the highest one on here

Yeah that the guy I called in and saw him years ago when he just put the new motor in it and tremac gearbox I had a gen walky at the time also and couldnt believe the detail he put into the car was a good guy to talk to aswell. Never got to go for a ride but heard it at idle and it was mean, brings me back. Be cool if you could post some pics of it if you see it around.

This is good stuff guys, cheers.
Sorry Alex, but I just have to laugh at you not being able to get your car out of the garage. I bet you were spewing! I've done plenty of things like that, always seems so obvious afterwards. The $4k you quoted, was that for all the stuff you had done? Any idea on what the coilovers alone were? I had no idea people adjusted their coilovers so often. Only adjusted the missus' once in a year.
Looks like i'll be going with 255s then, although not quite sure I can stretch to Contis, probably be goin with Eagle F1s at this stage.
Seeing all these mean VLs is good motivation for me to get mine going!
