First of all, ive been having problems with my sound system. Massive engine noise... reeaaally bad to the point where i had to have my music blaring so as not to hear it. To cut a long story short, i narrowed the problem down to either, Amp, or H/U after checking everything else. I Went out and bought myself a new 5 Chan Cadence Amp, and Sony 4 Gauge wiring, and redid the system...... No good.... now, when i turne on the H/U, no sound is registered and the red light on the amp comes on. HOWEVER: if i disconnect the RCA's from the amp, turn on the HU, then plug in the rca's one by one again, everything works fine, untill i turn off and on again.... My conclusion, New wiring all round, new amps, new sub, older HU, top of the range Pioneer bout 5 years ago. So thats what must be causing the problem ay??? Was looking at upgrading to a DVD player, but ill be really running dry on expendable funds. So ill probably just get a new HU like this one below, opinions? Pricing ok?? Can i do better?? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/New-08-Pionee...742.m153.l1262 (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?type=3&campid=5335860158&toolid=10001&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com.au%2FNew-08-Pionee...742.m153.l1262)

Look at ur earths on the headunit (don't use stock loom earth, find a metal point on the body in the dash close to the deck to attach it to), battery (use thick wire to the body) and amp (make sure the run is short, attached to a secure point on the body and is atleast the same thickness as the power wire). Make sure they are all up to scratch (bare metal). Be sure your RCA's run down the opposite side of the car as your power and remote wire. Also make sure your RCA's are up to scratch as well (no nicks or cuts from installing that may be causing earthing, that they are sheilded and in good condition).

I had a similar problem a couple of years back, engine noise was heard everytime I floored it. Ended up being a rooted Dizzy cap.
