Sounds like you have some expensive bills coming up http://calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=139355 Don't put a mini spool in a VT Clubby. What makes you think your diff on its way out??

They are relatively cheap and fairly strong to get a new 2nd hand lsd for them.

lsd's are ****. find yourself non lsd/open center diff center, get a spool and put it in and drive it just like you drove your old calais champ hehe... altho while on topic, if your clubby is low and big rims, your gunna kill your cv shafts, so just be aware that irs isnt as cheap and fun as live rear end. I mean fair enough the vl lsd are pretty average whether its a bw or 10 bolt. But are the vt Irs centres really that bad. They can be picked up for $300+ in as is condition. And they are put up a fair chunk of power standard so they must be worthy of something.

They wouldnt be any worse than any other IRS system but its the IRS in general that has weak points, its the cv joints and shafts, they wont put up with a mini spool for long. Mini spools are sh!t for a car that you actually have to use as a normal car

I wouldnt be putting a spool in. Whats accually wrong with your diff? Is it just the centre thats worn or gearset?? Its not to hard to rebuild a centre. i had a minispool in my vr 5spd with irs for a year or so (best money i spent on that thing), had no dramas! just gotta keep the power on as you would with a live axel just to stop the tyre skip and shudder aswell as prevent the sub frame from flexing too much, easy to strengthen them up as they usually crack around the bolt holes on the sub frame that the diff gets bolted up to. sub frame on the vr/vs is weaker then vt onwards. comes down to learning how to drive with a spool too, not for amatures thats for sure Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

well used to do doubles everytime, now its gotton to the point where it struggles to do double leggers, also makes sounds from the back, i might just get it rebuilt, but depending on what i get done to my box some tell me to change diff ratios...

get box built, 2500-3000rpm lock up convertor, minispool with 3.9 or 4.11 gears, it will fry em hard and be fun on the street bonus of those boxes is the lock up convertor so soon as it hits o/d, the convertor locks so you can cruise without the high revs from the convertor and with the diff gears will keep the revs up so it wont bog down to just cruise around town, rock!
