a guy on the street commo forums claims that gas research will not comply with any epa laws and also will not pass RWC requirments in vic at least and that no one will issue a compliance plate for the system lol. now i'm happy to accept if im wrong, but the compliance plate on my car may beg to differ. these are his posts. now is he talking ****, or have i missed something? Quote: Gasresearch, installers have admitted to me that its not legal, as its not an EPA approved system, alot of success on some Turbo setups, really not worth the expense, and very poor at dual fuel or harder to set up on these cars(again on advice of installers listed on gas research site). Then that number gets registered with Vicroads, and liscence installer number. This makes the car roadworthy and able to be registered. The next time i go on the gas research site, i will tell you who the installers were that told me that it was not a legal system. I would hope that if gas research lists them on the site, they would be certain about these things. I am only saying what they told me......Usually alot of cars that now have Gas research carbys fitted were previously of the standard approved mixer type system. So they may have converted to the gas research who's gonna take off the compliance plate. Its simple, just give them a call at Dandenong which i think is their head office or main installer and ask if they give compliance plate and so on. I find the Gas research to be quite expensive to install, even to convert over.

LOL Compliance plates are issued by the installer whether the kit is certified or not! Gas research systems would be non compliant on EURO 3/4 Vehicles (ie. Post 2004), anything before then is fair game as the kit does not have to be specifically certified to run on that particular car WOW, turns out my GAS course has come in handy for something P.S. I do my course with some of the boys from SWIFT AUTOMOTIVE, which was Gas Research. They are no longer Gas Research installers, but can help with tuning etc. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

so am i right in saying hes a fuckstick? hes also trying to tell me LPG is a 'stupid' choice for a performance build, and that he finds gas research to expensive and hard to fit and much prefers his impco dual fuel setup lol

quick question epitah you say gas is fair to be fitted to cars prior to 2004, my 91 bmw is on petrol, CHEWS it like a dogg, i get maybe 350kms out of 45 litres if im lucky. thats averaging around 7.7Kilometres per litre.. my VT averages 450km/s on 45 litres..VT is 3.8L and the bmw is 1.8L.. if i drive concervatively on both cars thats the outcome lol.. i wanna get gas but becuase of the wierd "advanced" engine management system on the bmw, which makes the computer go into "limp home mode" if it identifies an issue with the motor, so if gas was to be fitted and the EMS realised thier was an issue..it would ****up my car, so i was doubtfull ide be able to get it so ive been looking at changing my car before i go for gas... or would i be able to get GAS fitted on the bmw...is that something u can answer or should i be askng pro's ?

I havent seen a gas system for an early BMW like that, only vapour injection on some later stuff, but apparently the hassles to avoid "LIMP HOME MODE" are huge. Besides that, im not sure what you're asking Billy: in saying that the impco system is easier, he's kinda right. The converter/mixer setup they use is easy to install, and easy to tune. Simple converter, complex mixer. No idle circuit mode in the converter making things much easier to play with BlackVL: i'll pm you Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

kane, this might be true, but you forgot one thing...its also rather gay or should i be thinking about ditching my illegal GRA setup and putting in a blow through gas ring? loll Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

LOL if you think im talkin about gas rings your missing the point. Im talking an impco system with say.. a 425 mixer? a system with a gas ring requires a complex converter, using idle circuit mode etc.

Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

full on, like i said, i was happy to accept if i was wrong. but would this stop the car from being roadworthy or the compliance plate?
