Hey Guys, Recently ive had a small issue with the gasket from Exhaust/Turbo and once the car was heated up (After about 10 Minutes of driving) started playing up with some strange noises. Not having a chance to change it yet on Friday I was driving and after take off the car made a strange large 'pop' or 'bang' noise. And would idle fine under 2,000rpm but anything over and the car stuttered bad. Starting it up this morning there was also a fair amount of white smoke. Im assuming changing the gasket will fix the idle problem aswell as probably the stuttering (I would think the pop would be the gasket completely blowing out) and it now has a huge exhaust leak. But would the white smoke also be a cause of this? Also remembering the car hasnt been started since friday and it was damn cold this morning. White smoke = Water/Coolant doesnt it? Thanks, Matt x

Check your afm (air flow metre) first.

I dont know why I didnt even check the AFM. Would make sense. Then again, I popped the bonnet, went 'oh noes' and closed it sulking. lol.

Diagnosis = you have AIDS. Did you not have exhaust maifold gaskets changed a little while back? First by Greg then by Clay? If it keeps blowing them and leaking, the manifold is probably warped. The white smoke I have no idea, you sure it wasnt just condensation, like most cars do on a cold morning?

the stuttering and backfiring sounds like CAS - white smoke is a mystery though... may be a coincedence and you have an f'd CAS and an exhaust prob?

are you sure the pop/bang wasn't a cooler pipe blowing off? could be a separate issue to the gasket leak and as darren said, the white smoke could just be condensation. wishful thinking anyway. failing any of that, definitely aids.
