I have a VY acclaim 2002 model, V6, no mods, nothing special.. I heard the gas rebate is ending at the end of this year (not sure?), and I was thinking of gassing the VY whilst the rebate is still around. my question is: Could I put a non injected gas system (I cant remember what its called, the cheaper one), will the car run like an absolute pig? I'm not into having it run a 10second quater mile, I just want it to drive nice and quiet like it does now, with similar power upto say 3-4 grand (since I never go over that anyways). If so, that's around 2.5k to get that installed? (ball park figure). The injected system is about 4k and too expensive for me so if the above option is ridiculous for newer type cars then I'll keep it on petrol. Thanks

Just ask your local installer for an economy ring type convertor/mixer. Around the 2.5k mark but ring around and get a few quotes bkos prices vary widely.

- The "LPG Vehicle Scheme" commenced on 14 August 2006, runs until 30 June 2014 (8 Years) and is administered by AusIndustry. (http://www.lpgautogas.com.au/index.cfm?Action=MyCar) - Regarding the other question, I'm not sure! I'm sure there will be someone on the site, who will answer that for your Found this on the same site: Modern LPG Autogas engine technology provides performance and fuel economy comparable with contemporary petrol-powered engines. On Autogas, torque is available at lower engine revs, which aids driveability – particularly in stop/start city driving. In some cases total torque is actually increased. The power output of engines with Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) is, when converted to run on Autogas, usually only slightly lower than on petrol. Where possible, the Autogas system is interfaced with the original EFI computer. While top speed may be marginally reduced and acceleration times cut by fractions of a second, most drivers would be unlikely to detect the difference. The fuel economy of Autogas-powered vehicles depends on a range of factors but on average, vehicles running on Autogas use approximately 30 percent more fuel than petrol-powered equivalents. Remember, however, that this is more than offset by the much lower cost of Autogas, which is typically half the price or less than unleaded petrol. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I think its only the "Alloytecs" that need to run the injection setup.

the newer alloytecs and gen3's like blackvl has said use the injected setup your VY will no doubt use the gas ring and dual fuel setup with simple gas computer and IAC valve to do lean cruise with your rebate it actually turns conversions into a cheap setup. just make sure you keep your ignition setup (plugs and leads) all good to help prevent backfires and stuff and you'll be fine ; maybe a little down on power as the gas ring's are not as efficient as they could be, but its something.
