If its not breathing properly itll throw the pressure out the dipstick... so check breathers / catch can etc first.

yer i have a catch can and that is wht i think it is, like its not blowing the dipstick out when i drive or anything. its like the otherday when i went to cheak my oil i turned on the car let it run for about 5-10 mins so the oil will get moving, whilst the car was still running i pulled the dippy out and oil started to splash out, if my rings where gone id lose compression and i would be seeing white smkoe when i drive.

Let me get this straight... the oil is splashing out the dipstick tube while the engine is idling?

yes this is correct it only comes out when the dipstick is removed, it wont blow out by itself.

06-05-08, 08:54 GMT+10#18 How full is your engine with oil, sounds pretty normal to me that oil would splash out when there are moving parts rotating.
Doesn't sound like a problem with blow-by or blocked breathers. Make sure the oil level is correct, as you may not know the oil will expand when hot so if it's on the correct full mark when you first start up cold, it will rise slightly when the engine is warm.
Is it pushing oil out the dipstick when it's cold?
