Hey everyone,
I have recently purchased some new VT Spec Calipers and i want to get the coated before i fit them to my car.
The problem i have is i don't know if i should paint them oe get them powder coated or something.
Anyone know how much it'll cost or where i can take them to get powder coated? Also i have had a looksy at High Peformance Coatings' website (hpcoatings.co.nz) and that looks like it could be the go, however i have heard that it can chip off and scratch. I don't wanna pay $70+ per caliper if it's just going to get chipped and/or scratched.
Anyone got any ideas??
Thanks in advance,
Jason

High temp spray paint. Like Mike says, do it right and it will last years. The sprays cans are quite expensive tho, and they recommend you use their high temp primer. One can of each will easily do both calipers, probably cost ya $50 max.
Chrome?! Thought you didn't like rice NZ VL com!

Probably just black, or maybe grey. Can't do them red as it won't look right against my car's colour. And no other colours really appeal.
I thought about getting my brother to polish them at his work... but i don't think it'll come out very well and even if it does i'm not convinced it'll look very good anyways. Plus i will probably have to coat them with some clear coat of somesort to keep them looking tops.
So it appears that everyone thinks painting is the way to go. Does anyone know anyone that has had theirs powercoated??

Your car colour would probably look pretty good, they won't stand out, it'd just be a subtle highlight. Could be a hassle to get high temp paint in that colour though
Oh I bought some **** satin black brake caliper/drum paint from supercheap, only ever got around to doing one of drums on my 2L (hard to find motivation with that thing) all I did was wire brush as much rust off as possible and it still looks fine. So if you get some better quality paint, and put some sort of effort into the prep, they'll be fine.
^ That was atleast 2 years ago.
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

power coaters anywhere will do it,not sure on cost, power coat is tuffest most durable coating your guna get!even then it can chip,
the joy of spray painting enm is you can do what ever colour you want, and if it chips you can touch it up piece of piss, and over spray wont matter on your discs caus itll come off with first apply of brakes.
as mike said we have painted them plenty of times with sweet results and if you prep em rite they last the distance.
