Hey guys, thinking of ditching my trusty old Berlina and getting something a bit more modern for the daily grind, was thinking maybe a VT or similar, having a boot full of water after a week of rain, and no air-con is starting to grow old. Any thoughts?

They're called quirks! One of the joys of Commodore ownership!
The boot sounds like it may be expensive to fix, but the air con is an easy fix...just open a window

Yeah but that doesnt help on a hot rainy day! lol and the demister is useless because theres no A/C to dehumidify the air. Did the rust in the rear screen about 6 months ago and re bonded the side windows because it was leaking in from there too, its coming from the parcel tray area now, but only after a solid week of rain, think its the rear screen seal, thats the only thing i havnt replaced.

Hmmm, so the demister is useless without aircon? Bugger. Just turfed mine to make way for my cooler. Oh well. Just a quirk I'll have to live with now!
Did you use any sealant when you re-fitted the rear screen? I know you technically don't need to, but when I had my rear rust done, the panel beater ran a little bead of sealant along the edge of the seal to stop it lifting. Worked a treat. When I pulled the screen out, almost two years later, it was obvious that not a drop of water had got in.

take the bungs out off the boot floor.... but those leaks can be really hard to find sometimes but good luck maybe a scooter rather then a VT haha

Yeah I pumped it full of sikaflex maybe needs more? To stop the swimming pool i simply drilled a small hole in the spare wheel well, seems to work but doesnt stop damp carpets. The demister does work without A/C, just not very well, side windows still fog up, they only way around that is to have the heater turned up, which sucks.
One thing that has been on my mind, VTs are excellent cars, but my old VL has a bit of cool factor, a VT will just blend in with the scenery.

lol yea i only found out about those bungs after i went to aus for 2 weeks in the winter, which happened to be when we had 2 weeks of constant rain. Which made things worse i hadn't mounted my amp and it was just sitting upright in that gap to the right in the boot. Which was just filled with water by the time i got home amp still works too :-)
