Hi,
Looking at purchasing a VL turbo, originally a standard RB30, but converted to turbo.
It has ...Forged Pistons, Port Polish, Shaved Head, 1mm Oversized Valves, bored out 40thou, 370cc injectors, ECU remap, front mount.
Shaving the head increases the compression ratio.. wouldn't this be a problem with a turbo conversion?
thanks guys

Yeah if it was just an n/a (9.0:1) converted to turbo with a shaved head it would be abit of a worry, but if its been rebuilt with forgies its likely that the comp ratio is low enough that the shaved head will be ok
My head has had over 1.5mm knocked off it. It's on a n/a bottom end and i've never had a problem. It's all about the tune. Mine made 490rwhp last weekend! Nothing wrong with a bit of compression.

Completly standard 200,000k+, hard to belive aint it and most people dont.
I do run 6 extra injectors in the manifold squirting in methanol.

No decopression plate. I do have a acl 3 layer head gasket in there but it aint much thicker then a genuine gasket. All about the tune. oh and methanol helps

I've got them welded in the manifold directly below the standard ones. They are near imposible to see.

Awesome! Somehow I've never heard of running 12 injectors, but thats rad.
So, by what you said, does that mean you have an extra cell in the boot for the methanol and running 1, 2 extra pumps and an extra regulator? Show me more pics of the setup if you dont mind.
thats ausome!
is it possible to get the injectors tapped into the runners just before the intake ? maybe this will vaporise better too?
6 extra injectors tapped into the runners sounds good to me!
lol you could run some nice high comp if you ran methanol, no worries
but normal petrol, anything above 9 will limit boost, which is ok if your happy running 3psi :P

Yeah mate, two completely different fuel setups. One for methanol and the other for pump fuel.

That will help a lot - methanol will give you an excellent octane boost )

few people here running 7 to 8 psi with no IC on n/a pistons at 9:1 with ULP.
Though it is prob close to the limit.
For the sheer dollar value, raising CR by a couple of points doesnt give as
much power as that same money spent on a better turbo and inlet mods
for best flow...

I think he means drilling extra holes/mounts in the single (cyl) runners and adding the
methanol injectors there,
I'd like to see pics pretty please of the inlet as to where those extra injectors are placed ?

Yo, thats a "heath robinson" setup, are they timed to coincide by chance ?
Quick to do yeah, though I would have done it a bit different, maybe earlier
in the stream - and yeah tricky given the factory runner shape/room etc
Well done as it runs with good power
