Ok now we know many VL's run 10s.. a limited amount run 9's and only few run 8's. What sort of cash are we looking at when were talking in the 9's? And is there a massive cash difference with a 9 and 10 second car? I am asking this because we have convos about this all the time, so lets hear from the big boys.. roughly how much u spent on running gear.. for a 9 or 10 second car?

im aiming for 10s.... and its costing me 20grand + although, ive been told by others the motor could do 9s the engine + parts will cost over 20,000 EASY.. if u want good reliable gear...gearbox is something u need to get your head around as there are quite a few choices...and the pricefor a good box is sometimes like "OMGWTF" because you'll realise that itl cost about 3/4 that of your motor (head+bottom) imo.. its best not to think about the price.. just do it :| lol

Well I recall a friend giving JPC a call a while ago regarding this. They basically said they can do a drive in/drive out package, guaranteed to run a 9 second pass (9.99 at least guaranteed) for $30k. That was the customer dropping off their VL Commodore, and picking it up ready to rock and roll.

Maybe BIGPSI could elaborate, as I've noticed he's associated with JPC? I don't think that price would include too much fancy ****, just what's required to run the number's I'd say.

well i havent run the time, but 9's are my goal. How much money....................................?????? Thats the question i get asked all the time between me and my mates. My answer to them is "that its not about the money, its about going fast."

if you wanna setup the car for the track and go out every week and race will cost alot more but if you want to do a one hit wonder would cost less Andra specs: cage harness suit helmet tailshaft loop gearbox cover etc etc then strength of diff strength of box modifications on ass end so nothing rips out or breaks to be consistent you gotta build things for reliability too be able to cope punsihment as richie said if you wanna go fast its not about how much it is

i reckon if you have a bog stock standard vlt and converted it to run a 9. ie. cooler, exhaust, engine, box, diff etc etc. 40k.

Well its anywere between 30-40k on running gear for the 9 pass? whos spent that much and run a 9? And has any of this been with a non known workshop? Like not rajab,jpc,breschani...

To run a 9 as in one 9 your looking at at least making 400kw pretty much if you can do it with less your going well ! Should be looking at between 15 - 20without any safety gear ie cage brakes etc There is a car up here that ran 9.9 made low 400kws running hypertecs 35/40 6 boost kit rajab inlet cam microtech backed by a trimatic built the engine box and tuned the car himself would have cost under 10 I would say did all the work himself which cuts the price down heaps

There is also upkeep and maintenance depending how often u race. Breaking parts, C16 \ Dyno time etc. From my experiance owning a 9sec car cost alot of money, it neva seems to end

You can build an engine to handle 400kw but its still going to need more maintenance then a stock rb30 which will cost $$$ it all depends and how much you take it to the track but once youve got a 9sec car then you need the cash flow to keep it a 9sec car as stuff breaks all the time even if its been built to handle the power.

lol when ever someone asks me about money and wat not i always say its about three times as much as your really wanna spend lol building the thing then tuning, gettin everythin to last like trans and diff. but the questions is do you only waant one pass or to do it all day everyday knowing that itll all be right because that comfort costs money
