I'm new to the site and have a quick question..( and I haven't been a lazy prick - I have actually searched the forums ).. I moved here not long ago from NZ, where we can pretty much do whatever we want to cars and the cops don't give a toss.. however things are very different here! Just bought a VLT Berlina and I want to throw a FMIC on it, along with a few other mods ( lowering - exhaust etc ) but want to know what I can get away with before I risk getting defected. I've tried searching government websites to find out what's legal and there's F*** all info, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pretty much we are the exact opposite of NZ. Over here you can get a yellow sticker (defect) for pretty much any modification. Best bet would be to get a permit thru the DPI (Dept Planning & Infrastructure) for any mods that you do choose to do as its that dept that governs cars and mod out here. Failing that, dont drive/act like a d!ckhead and dont draw any unnecessary to yourself and take your chances. Welcome to WA by the way Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Cheers mate, much appreciated! Seems like they pretty much set you guys up to fail. Don't give you any good info on what you can or can't do, and then bust ya at their leisure for pretty much anything they want. sounds like bollocks to me.

It's not all that bad. Perth/WA is better than some other states but as kalais6 mentioned it's worth getting permits for any mods done and even then try not to attract too much attention to yourself even though most of the cops are pretty good if you don't carry on like an idiot. As far as I understand it you should be able to get permits for most mods that you'd want to do. Good luck with everything and hope you enjoy WA . Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Well i don't know for sure but I have had yellow stickers removed off of my car and mates with intercoolers, holes in body, hollowed cats etc but i suppose it just depends on what cop gives it to you and what place takes it off. I would say WA would be one of the more lenient states especially down south away form perth.
