hi guys, just brought a new car and its a:
Your car is a Holden SL/Executive Commodore Sedan
From the factory it was equipped with the Holden 304 V8 producing 122kw at the flywheel.
It was produced in 1987 at the Adelaide plant with a serial number of 31520
so its a a8s pack
wanting to know if there are many of these around

can i ask, so is that different to other v8s? i thought all vl v8s were a 304? and the power seems pretty much stock so it isn't a speacial sports version?

that A8S pack is just the code on your build plate from factory for the v8 for a exec and sl, nothing special about it, i would like to know how many of these are still around

10-04-08, 16:10 GMT+10#10 are those 5.0 badges stock? maybe post this in the v8 section?
i have see a blue v8 bt1, and i have seen lots of calais v8s but i recon this is the first sl / exec v8. its like optioning an omega with a v8, not the ost common thing to do.

15-04-08, 20:13 GMT+10#14 good to see another one around, thats a sweet pic man did your car come out with those hub caps cause they look like turbo ones

15-04-08, 20:26 GMT+10#15 Turbo caps are also a feature of the V8 VL along with "turbo" brakes , 1 inch master cylinder , angled exhaust and what ever else holden had laying around.
It was only available in auto form ( 3 speed traumatic) and had a 3.08 ratio "turbo" diff.
The V8 VL was considered so lacking in the performance stakes its only marketing was how good it could tow ****e with !! . Needless to say not many execs were sold but nearly all have the factory tow bar kits in them. The good thing is they are cheap as to buy and are a good base for an EFI conversion and nice road car , that pic was taken in 2002 when i bought it and it cost 3k back then .
