G'day,
Just wondering if anyone has built or knows who has built a holden 383 stroker with a walkinshaw twin throttle body manifold, alloy heads, roller/solid roller cam?
Im thinking of rebuilding mine and keeping the walkinshaw twin throttle body's on it.
Im wondering what power figuers i may get??
I want to aim for 600hp+ at the fly wheel??
Can this be done using the walky manifold and the rest of the above components??

Seems feasable. Theres alot of 600hp holden strokers around.... theres probably not too many 700hp or more without having forced induction or running on alcohol / methanol.

i think you'll spend to much money trying to get that power without forced induction thats also if you can get it, drivability will also be very poor

He didnt mention driveability. Anything over 500hp N/A is going to be a cranky engine and a bitch to drive. Yes it will cost alot. It is doable however.

mines is 550 and with a 4000 rpm stall and 3.5 gears it drives beautifully.Loud and heavy on juice but could drive it every day if i wanted.Might be a bit more piggish with a manual but autos are the go with that sort of power unless circuit racing

how much money would one be looking at for a 500hp + N/A Stroker motor. paying somebody to build it as well ??.. about $20,000 ?

Well I just got some quotes on a SBC actually.
COME racing were about $17k for a turn key 550hp motor. This included everything!! carb, ignition etc. That was a 434ish cube motor.
Pavtek were about 13k for a 383 with 490hp...
It costs alot more than what people think.

that is definetaly achievable. tracx1 was making near 800 with a 383 holden engine

Did it ever run good mph?, first outing was only low 140mph traps, more like high 600's moroso hp. Did it improve? awesome car.
cheers

because of big stalls and diff gears? or like bad on fuel etc?
sorry but im a no0ob whne it comes to the v8 scene

Itll be hard to start - would take a few goes usually... then it wont idle until its warm.
Itll have a big convertor and 4.11 gears or lower, probably wont have a huge amount of mid range but itll move up high, and fuel... my god... itll use fuel. A good night out in my old car was an easy $100 in fuel... that was only 400hp and only 302 cubes... so more cubes and more power is going to be a harder hit on the hip pocket.

all of the above! na strokers aren't the sorta car u want to take through city traffic, or even a long drive really... big stalls, cams and diff gears means high revs are needed, defeats the pointof a v8 imo.
Forced induction now theres another world altogether, easy to make 500-600hp+ with cars that idle and drive like stock (until u push the pedal down further)

Click HERE (http://www.comeracing.com/products/engines/holdenv8carb/383_terminator/) for the Chev Offroad 383 terminator engine. (carb, but you could convert to EFI)
