been looking at gettin a new car for less than 30k My short list of cars is the new mitsu lancer, mazda 3 sp23 & subaru impreza rs. Now i know none of these are commodores (i still have 2 vl"s) but i want to get peoples opinions of these cars who have driven them or owned one. I'm personally leanin towards the mitsu. It has heaps of standard stuff and i reckon the VRX looks "tough"..... ish.

Mitsubishis are good cars these days. And they have an excellent warranty system in place. Lancer has decent resale value too. I've worked on plenty of Lancers, and theres not much that can go wrong with them. Definately gets my vote over the Mazda (just don't like them) and the Subaru (flat four no thanks).

why dont you buy something like a ba xr6 or even a vyvz and put the extra cash into the vl or something esle... just a suggestion. if not id go for the mazda 3 MPS apprently they go hammer

Fromt he cars he suggested, I'd say he wants a cheap daily. Falcons and Commodores use more fuel than the smaller four cylinders.

welll my vote goes to mazda 3 i rekon they look the best out of all of them..seems like uve got your heart set on the mitsi though.

also im gonna salary sacrifice the car so buying new is the best bet. So commodores and falcons depreciate pretty badly which is not the best when you get a car using this method. I think the MPS is a tad expensive for me. But i would love it. Im yet to test drive them. Maybe this weekend

Awwwwwwwww........you love your XR6, don't you? The Mazda 3s do go well (probably the fastest of the three), but if you want a fast Mazda (excluding a rotor), get the Mazda 6 MPS. AWD turbo! Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

the main thing that is swaying me towards the mitsu is that its bigger than it looks. Heaps of room in the back. I suppose all out power isnt the main thing(thats what the vl is for) as the missus will be driving it most of the time, Is there any other cars i should be considering

Dont know if your a ford fan but the focus XR5 is sweat as quick, looks good, good on fuel when your nice to it and got a fair bit of room in the back. i brought one for the misses she loves it, and brings a smile to my face when i use it to run down to the shops. only thing is its 2 door.

Actually, I drove the new Focus, and it wasn't bad for a little car. Quite roomy (the owner was really tall, so it must've suited her well). Although its euro-style (indicators in the wrong place).

my mum has a sp23 and i drive Imprezas every day at work from what i know about the two, i would definately sway towards the sp23. they are very impressive, much quicker than what i was expecting, and are a very nice car to drive. the impreza compared to the sp23 is very sluggish, and not near as quick, and i would say uses more fuel!

i'd personally go for mistubishi as i've owned my 2001 verada XI (top of the range) and never have had one problem i recommend mistubishi not only are they better of the bunch but the factory backed warranty really you can't go wrong 5/10 years sounds all good to me but 30k buy a near new car i reckon as you can neg the price on many cars for various reasons and still get factory warranty

i think the xr5 is ova 30k?? the things turning me off the mazda are that its more expensive to lease and the shape is a few years old now compared to the others. still nice though. I wanna try that cvt auto that the lancer has. Looked it up on utube and when you floor it it goes straight to almost redline and just stays there. weird.

CVT are weird to drive, but maybe you get use to it My mum has an auto SP23, nice car with leather, Bose stereo etc and go faily well for what they are. Not as good on gas as you would think...
