Anyone got an idea on the fastest car with one of those cheapie chinese exhaust manifolds? or even with a stocky turbo manifold? VPW have them for 350. Is that as cheap as it gets Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Im interested in hearing about this, I'd also like to know if they had to modify the stainless manifold I've heard these cheapie stainless manifolds have a tendency to warp due to the heat involved and I've heard people cutting and seperating the flanges to make it like the standard manifold, all seperate flanges and stuff. Would really like to hear some professional insite to learn more. Cheers, Daz

Mate of mine went 9.3 with a chinese manifold. You dont need expensive exhaust manifolds to go fast...

its the product Grade in the steel that make all the difference then there quailty and workmanship comes next for the ebay stock there generally grades of mild steel (coLo G250) which what you'd find in your average bunnings garden outdoor furniture as for the proper setup (manifolds) there a much higher grade of steel (G350-400) which is graded for structal uses in which its tolerant against every day use as a manifold Theres no way Stainless steel ( as they claim) is the same firstly It ani't stainless Every metal worker would know that stainless hates heat, can not be welded to withhold pressure on stainless steel manifold its just bloody chrome dipped to look all fancy **** grade mild steel

A goo dmanifold vs a cheap manifold will be a debate that rages for a long time yet. I guess "do I need one" is dependant on the individual... Can you run an 8 with one?? Yes, you can. Could you run an 8 with one on 10 psi less boost and earlier spool with a well made one?? Probably. IS the benifit worth the extra cost?? Completely up to the individual. I have back to back tested on at least 9 cars now my manifold vs cheap manifold, and in some cases expensive items, such as greddy etc. I am yet to not have a manifold make both more power, and have ealier spool. The least gains I have seen are 7kw at the wheels on a 200rwkw SR20, the highest gains were prob a customers drag car that picked up 68rwkw and 700rpm of spool on the same boost. I have also seen a reduction of 15psi in exhaust manifold back pressure thru the same turbo on the same boost. In 1000+ manifolds now in 4 years, I have had only 1 return for warranty, an evo manifold, that was a low mount, with no manifold bracing, no exhaust hangers, heat wrapped, and was used on a circuit sprint car(basically 8 minutes of hell at a time), even then, it took 18 months to crack it. We added a brace, got them to remove the heat wrap and add a heatshield instead, put some exhaust hangers on it, and that same manifold has done another 2 seasons. You get what you pay for, sure, there are heaps of people going fast with cheap manifolds, so what..... There has been another 2000 that have fallen apart or cracked before even making it to a racetrack. I'd prefer people to buy from my competition than buy a cheap POS manifold. But horses for coarses, no one can tell you what you NEED. 6BOOST

Any turbo manifold I have made for my cars has been in steam pipe bends. It makes me wonder why more people dont do it (yes i know you do Kyle ) You get the bends for $2.50 each (plumbing store) compared to $13 a bend for mild steel. There 3mm thick rather than 1.6mm for mild steel. There completly unbreakable, ok 99.9%, and if made correctly will last a life time. I end up making most of mine for about $200, so cheaper than an e bay and ive never had one fail on my car. $100 for exhaust flange laster cut $100 in bends + to make a turbo flange plate Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

the colecter/merge on the ebay ones are shocking they are stainless and that is why the chrome peels off them(try sticking a magnet onto them 3wishz)

i never really pumped any decent boost though it, and was only running nonturbo injectors/ecu and ran lean burt the oil seal out, but i have a vlt highflow on now (t04e front housing and compresser wheel, ta-34 serria turbine) with vlt injectors/ecu and that craps all over the old set up, old set up never really broke traction except on take off, this one breaks traction coming just on boost in the first 3 gears. Yeh making manifold my self at my new factory
