just got my head back from the work shop, and i need to fit a new o-ring seal for the retainer as my last one was shagged. how important is it to change the cam seal if it was fine beforehand. main reason i would rather not change it is to avoid possible damage to the cam face. also im guessing if not removing the retainer, i would have to remove the cam altogether to slide the o-ring through? cheers

cam seal can be changed by just removing the cam gear... Just pry old one out and carefully tap the new one in nice and straight... Do your crank seal too if ya can while its all apart...

Screwdriver mate. Little one, pry it out from the inside out...
