hey people,
im after some knowledgeable advice. i want to know once and for all which is a stronger box (in stock condition), the turbo 350 or the trimatic? what are the problems with both boxes and how much does it cost to get each one fully manualized (strengthened). also how much power can each one hold when worked?
im in a dilema, please help..
cheers, sam.

TH350 is a stronger factory box but theyre heavier than a Trimatic. TH400 is a stronger upgrade again but associated parts are more expensive. TH400 also has a longer first gear and a longer top gear for highway driving from memory.
Trimatics used to be frowned upon but they can be made into very strong boxes - you need to spend money.
I hope thats some part help.

turbo 400 is a 3 speed bud
turbo 700( vn to vs) correct me if im wrong. is the 4 speed
but the turbo 400 ****s all over the 700 in strength
turbo 350 is good value/ratio
wat i mean by this is 350 lighter box... but quite strong
400 very heavy but almost indestructable
its the like the difference between a vl turbo diff and a 9 inch
9 inch are almost indestructble but very ****in heavy
while vl turbo diffs are not as strongas 9 inch but still strong... .. but lighter
personally i got a t400 and i love it cause i know i wont destroy it
serious hp = turbo 400
i personally wouldnt bother with trimatic unless ur after times..
be ready to spend 2k plus on a trimatic if u want that
turbo 400.. possible 350.. grab one thats in working order and chuck it in lol
and 90% u wont have any probs
bewarre tho.. turbo 400 not sure about 350.. the bands cant be tightened..... ...soo ive been told.. please correct if im wrong.. i only want to expand my knowledge
Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

i think turbo 400 is good for about 600 horses stock
cant remmber if that was at the wheels or at motor
well.. cant say muchj about weight diff but.... my t400 took about 8 litres to fill and that was wif a 3500 stall..... the bigger the stall.. the less oil it takes.
from memory they take 12 litres wif a stock convertor
that should give u a hint of how big the ****ers are

oath aye.. 12 is alot.
600horses at the flywheel is still alot (for me).. maybe the t400 is the way to go.

21-03-08, 21:40 GMT+10#10 hey mate, my understanding is T400 and 350 are good boxes but they rob alot of power from the engine. if you want to buy one of these boxes and beef it up i would suggest a Trimatic doing what PLATNUM said will give you a very strong box aslong as your not going to run over 500hp these are an excellent option IMO but if you just want to buy the box and whack it in i would go the t400 or t350.
