ok i was in my Calais the other day started here up took her for a boot down the highway foot to the floor and looked on my Microtech handset and noticed the TPS% was only at %60 now this must have happened while it was getting tuned because when i 1st bought the car if i put my foot down to the floor it would say %100 or %99.....can anyone confirm this?
so im sure while they tuned it they have stuffed with this sensor some how cause if its saying that on the handset dduz that mean my engien throttle is only opening %60 at flat foot???
Or am i wrong and is there more 2 it??

im pretty sure you'll be able to tell the difference between 60 and 100% throttle

vl's auto tps only have two settings either on or off
if your tps % goes from 0 - 60% then dont even worry bout it probably set like that by the tuner for some reason or another, im told they are fairly useless and they run the same without them

Mine is a Turbo manual ok well i was just wondering.
i might actully get it checked out any body else with a MT8 ECU get the saem thing??
My mate has an SL EXEC vL with an RB25 in it and MT8 and he said that his 1 reads %100 when he has foot to the floor.
Also said that it measure how far the throttle is open for thr ECU to know how much air load to go thru the engine?
is this true.
if mine is only reading 60 am i missing out on alot of air flow??
i do have the RB25 head on aswell guys same as him.

What do other peoples Microtech say when flat footed?

Yes it should say 100%. You should be able to calibrate it through the microtech.
Its purpose is mostly for enrinchment when you stomp on it....similar to a accel pump on a carby. The ecu can pick up the rapid change in throttle position and add more fuel accordingly.
In the Haltech it's also used as a condition for going into closed loop (steady throttle position) and for idle control.

Would this only saying its 60% at flat foot mean its only opening at %60 duz that mean my engine is losing 40% of air going into the engine as it isnt opening fully??

pretty sure 100% - 60% = 40% then yea your probz losing 40% of something

08-03-08, 20:38 GMT+10#11 If you have the standard vl tps it means nothing. If you have a variable tps (like XF Throttle body ) then it either means that the tuner has incorrectly calibrated the 0-100% of the TPS or it could mean your throttle body really is only 60% open but I think you would notice that by driving it.

09-03-08, 01:10 GMT+10#12 i have the RB25 TPS...im going to set it up to read 100% how would i do that is it in teh Microtech or do i move the TPS itself?
Thankz for your input aswell darkjedi ??

09-03-08, 14:11 GMT+10#13 I am not exactly sure as I have a wolf which does use the TPS 0-100% for fueling but by reading the LT manual located here http://microtechefi.com/software/ltmanual.pdf
it appears that the Microtech only uses the tps for on idle/off idle and uses the MAP for fuel enrichment. If that is true then you only need to set it at 0% at idle which is explained in the manual.

Ok i checked it all out by teh microtech handbook the NISSAN has a ON/OFF throttle sensor and as i tested it i put my foot down to like 1500rpm and it goes str8 to 57% as soon as my foot is off it goes to 0% i rev to 4000RPM it goes to 57% so im guessing thats how it is thought im still not sure.
if its ON/OFF style its basically OPEN/CLOSE so 2 me it should be OFF/CLOSE/0% and ON/OPEN/100% so im gong to try configuring it and see if it all works.
cause i dont know it it is saying my throttle is opened 57% of the way only or is it saying theres only 57% of flow going thru as thats all that needed.
But i noticed on my R33 TPS there is a plug underneath with wires that had been cut anyone know what this is for?

20-03-08, 14:24 GMT+10#17 the two plugs are for tps, but one as niche said goes to the auto computer and acts just like the rb30 one (just on off), the other is variable resistor 0-5V style.
depends on which one you are using, and what the ecu has been setup for as to if its working right.

20-03-08, 14:29 GMT+10#18 The Auto TB has an extra signal for the auto ecu, the sensor is a variable
resistor - but it doesnt go to the engine ECU - only goes to the Auto ECU
to aid in kickdown logic amount other things such as overdrive transition etc.
