Heya Guys, When ever I am doing a cold start it takes around 20-30 seconds to turn over. I'm assuming that it is flooding the fuel lines? Is this normal or is there something that I can do to change this? Cheers guys.

lol sorry I guess that would be helpful. S2 Exec wagon with duel fuel system. Never has run petrol in the last 4 years though. Car has a new starter motor, new alternator and one of the best batteries I could find. There is nothing on the engine just stock.

any dual fuel system will have trouble starting cold. theyre just not tuned the best to run on either fuel and most systems used are poo. if it was straight gas, ud have much more success so its not uncommon no im sure some of the gurus can go into detail about why it takes longer though Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

Ud need to get a primer kit for the convertor bkos with dual fuel ur supposted to start it on petrol. Turn on the ignition for 10 seconds before cranking it then try it.

When I had my car on gas I used to turn the ignition on, off, on, off then give it a couple of quick pumps and crank it over... started straight away. I was told it was that the gas between the convertor and the carby / TB evaporates and you need to get it to reach the carb / TB again when you want to start it after a little while. It works!

Assuming that you have electric lock-offs on the gas system, jump in and turn the engine over 1/2 a dozen times, stop cranking, wait a few secs then hit it again. The electric cut-offs need to get a signal to say that the engine is turning over before they will open up, hence the large amount of cranking. If it's a vacuum system the same principle applies. That being said, my old ute, which has a vacuum lockoff, starts on exactly the 13th revolution every time when it is cold. This having been said, get a primer, easy to fit and will solve all of your problems.

lol crazy, i never have that problem with the VH, i find its harder to start with the primer? i guess it would depend on the system being used? without the primer the VH would kick over on the 3rd turn, with the primer used itd take a fair bit more, never counted.
