Its 4.40 am.. cant sleep and after being inspired by Spike and Dixies car threads, it seems like a good time as ever to do a quick post up about my VL.
Bought this car in october 06 with some insurance money from my dark blue calais turbo that was written off in august 06. I was really hangin for a yellow BT1 (arent we all) but not having a daily driver i needed a car and wanted it soon. I looked at a few calais turbos, nothing really stood out, until i seen this thing in the tradey.
Guy who owned it lived locally so it was easy to meet up and scope it out.
Details are (when purchased on 06)
Series 2 OG calais turbo, body was fair straight, except for a scuff on the rear bumper (which i intedned on fixing asap), paint is ok.. not show car worthy but nice.
no rust
Resprayed black with slight bronze pearl (origionally 1 tone marone)
Claimed to have a hiflow t3 (which wasnt true) but was standard.
Stock bottom end, in healtly condition
Light head work (crow cam, port polish etc)
catch can
adjustable pan hard rod
FM cooler
standard ecu
stock injectors
Fully manualized 4 speed auto w/ 3800 stall
standard springs all round
Aero tech interior.. really nice and suits well.
Car came on polished VL calais wheels with pretty much full tread.
standard stereo (cd player speaker etc .. who cares)
Got a heap of reciepts and a few spare parts with it.
first thing i did was put some 17'' interationals on that i kept form my old calais. and it looked something like this:
after cruzing around for a bit,and giving it a decent cut and polish, decided it had to go lower and louder. so i took it into jspec (dont start on me.. i had no idea) go get it lowered and have the AFM put in the cooler piping.
Also i scored a ruby red rocker cover off dave (fatpsi) to freshen up the bay and painted a few bits and pieces to make it look more respectable.

i put the car up for EOI sale (bull **** sale) because in the back of my mind i still wanted a BT1 and got a job closer to home so i didnt need to drive it everyday.
Didnt end up selling, i didnt get any decent offers so i took it off sale and kept it to do some more work.
Chucked some VT calais badges on the rear doors and decided to get a new turbo, ext wastegat, a 044 pump and in cabin boost controller, and a screamer pipe.
Found a decent t4 hiflow air research off a member off here (scattered bt1)
and took it in to get installed.
Got it all fitted, and tuned and the car made 170rwkw on 9psi. basically the car was starving for fuel and any higher boost would kill it.
car looked a little like this with new engine mods.
Next i was thinking about an ECU and injectors. I sold my Inters to PSIXTC and used the cash to get some plates. After thinking heaps about some custom plate ideas i decided to go with [PNSHER].
Reson being: im big into marvel comics, love the punisher books, and the car is black.. F'n Perfect right? well i thought so..
after gettin some plates and putting the polished calais on:
Loved the polished calais rims but wanted something "meaner". So i scored some Vy gts 18" fakies off CT.com.au and put them on.
car looked ok.. but i wasnt conviced it was lookin its best.
The guards where lipped and the car was still rubbing heaps (18's 245 tyres)
Got sick of the rims pretty quickly sold them as i was really hanging to get a tatoo.
Sold the rims on here and put some cash together to start my tat. I went full left arm sleeve / breast plate.. all marvel comics theme. never had a tatoo before and didnt realized the cost involved so put the VL on the back burner for a bit. This is my $7,000+ arm..
Got my arm finished 5 months later(in tat thread if anyone cares), and put the VL back up for sale. I bearly drove it, and had a daily and it was pretty much gathering dust in the garage. It went up for 12k here and on carsales. had a couple of ppl come check it out, interested but still not sure. Had it tuned again and had some new front struts put in again.. all at JPC
Looked like this at this stage:
Plan was to sell it up before the end of 2007 and look for a yellow bt1.
still had the car in early jan 08 so again.. took it off sale and put some more money i to it.
Bought some fake sigs with new rubber and as soon as i had the wheels fitted i reversed into this small as f'n pole and broke my rear tail light.
i thought this is was as good time as ever to get a new rear end sprayed up, and while i was at it, got a new front bumper sprayed,new chrome moulds, and new badges...
Car was looking A1!
got it back from the panel shop (GP smash in epping - Gary is a legend), drove it to a mates place, and blew my break booster hose rubber, gutter rashed one of the sigs. My night was getting ****ter. Got it home and had to get my mum to reverse dads car out so i could get mine in.. she ends up reversing into the drivers door.. scratching it all the way up.
NOT COOL MUM!
it was booked in again at GP smash for some more work.
I got the front quarter, drivers door, pass door and 1 door bumper resprayed and got the drivers lock shaved while i was at it.
Went to the wreckers and pulled off a booster rubber of a VK, breaks where a1 again. I put VT cal badges on front and back, new chrome moulds and a silver turbo badge.
Car is looking A1 again!

I recently just purchsed a MicroTech LT8, chome fuel rail, 550cc injectors, a JD custom plenum and an XF throttle body, and pod filter (over the dose soo bad but diggin the screamer) Just saving right now to get it all installed. dont know what to expect with this gear in.. but im sure ill notice the difference.
