Since I've started to get the ball rolling on a fair few mods I thought it was time to put up some info on my car. It began life in 1988 as a stock as a rock SL auto. The guy before me changed that, to which he claimed was a V8 LSD(3.08 gears), a R33 gearbox (keyword: CLAIMED, to which i later found out was a NA 5 speed), full original turbo motor, High Flow Turbo(dont know the specs), Blitz FMIC, BOV, aero kit, LE wing, and some deadly paper coned subs in the boot. The exterior was extremely straight and a bare metal respray had been done, with some pretty dark tint. He also said that it had ran 160-170rwkw but also didnt have dyno graphs. He didnt have receipts for anything, which really wasnt smart at the time for me to even think about buying the car but I took the chance and bought the car. As it was a country car it was very dirty and dirt was everywhere, seals and all. lucky I work at a carwash and it got the cleaning (multiple cleaning) that it deserved. I had changed the oil, plugs and leads, and a lot of ticking started to occur. LIFTERS . First thing I did was take it to the unbeleivably incredible guys at THR. so they good F**K me over and charge me $650 for a malpassi and small tune, and put the timing 25 or so forward. they are great if your spending 35g's on twin t51r's though Although it did pull a fair bit more power than the previous owner had claimed. Car ran great, but noticed the ticking got worse and worse. clutch was also on its way out and was slipping once it got hot. Tried doing the lifters twice but got worse each time. Gave up.Started having trouble with overheating, and a few cracked hoses. Flushed the radiator a couple of times and still was blowing hoses. Went up to Advanced Auto Salvage and bought Au thermo's, and installed them. worked a treat and never overheats. Also got my hands on some TYC lights also from Advance Auto and did the reconditioning of the lights. Worked wonders and cleaned up the look of the front of the car. I took it to a dyno shootout COCC, at advanced automotive. Had lost a fair bit of power, but still did well, although injectors are maxxed out. I began having a lot of trouble with boosting and was going through petrol like crazy. I took it to Lockie (jetvl086) and he did a great job of fixing the car up. ended up changing the malpassi (all $650 worth) back to the stock one and car is running great. he also pointed out that the gearbox that was currently in is a NA 5speed, not the R33 box that the previous owner had stated. DOGGED. Next I went to Advanced Auto again and bought a set of lifters to recondition properly (as directed by the great VL mechanic, Lockie), and did it a third time a few weeks ago and it worked great. running like a dream. Today I picked up a RB20 turbo gearbox from Adelaide Jap Dismantlers to put in place of the tired and worn-out NA box. Will be now saving up for a decent clutch and hopefully have that in the next month or so. Then will be upgrading the injectors, fuel pump, Nisstune, and turning the boost up a bit more. By then I will hopefully be off my P's and a will start to do more to the exterior. I will be selling my 17's, riding on my polished calais rims with skinny on the front and the fattest tyres i can fit on the back and will save for some HSV 19's. lower it a bit, get the aero front on, then... then... then... then... here's some more pictures, some **** quality but will get a couple more on a nice day down the carwash once its had a polish. Let me know what you think, Cheers Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

got no idea what your talking about pat... riding on polished calais rims for the moment. dont mind the look at the moment, so on them until i get everything right(new tyres, suspension, rolled gaurds etc.) for these to go on... sneak peak I dont want to cut any corners of getting them on, want it sitting right and not rubbing. Hopefully getting my alarm put in by lockie this weekend as well. cheers Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

looking good mate, you shouldn't have any problems with the hsv wheels scrubbing on guards, mine dont. Also Lol at thr, get rich quick wankrs. they sound like another V spec. blokes are still chasing that bloke for engines that didnt last.

cheers corran, yeah will have them on in the next month or so. you have 235/35's? have done a fair bit the last couple of weeks. serviced the car, have redone the brakes (slotted disks, blue calipers, performance brake pads) to look all clean behind the 19's. also have dropped the ride height about 1.5-2 inchs, HD SL king springs and KYB replacment shocks/struts up front, HD lowered pedders springs and shortend KYB shocks in the rear. when i took the front shock out of the strut housing, oil... EVERYWHERE. original shocks and they where f*cking shagged. so rides a whole lot better now. not a boat, and should handle even better on the new wheels. should sit nicely on the 19's. will get some pics up when i work out where my connection is. also have paid for the clutch, so hopefully picking it up and putting it in this week and away we go with the bedding in period... fun... but i'm guessing i should leave the 15's on until i have got through that. dont want to be burning 19's.
