hi people i have a vk bt1 but it does not have bt1 on the tags, i have had 2 vk bt1's one blue and now a yellow one they have every bt1 feature but both without bt1 on the tags, also both were autos, i have seen 2 manual ones that have bt1 on the tags did only manual ones have bt1 on the tags? i have also heard that brock brought some off the factoy floor and built them for the police is this true? the yellow one has the absinth yellow paint code and is it true only bt1 cars were releast in absinth yellow?
any info and pics on vk bt1's would be gratefuly appreciated, cheers nath
if it is a police car like a vh, vk, vl, vn...it should hav bt1 on the tags...if the car has got bt1 features like sump guards and stuff like that the tags may hav been removed...im unsure if only the yellow interceptors had bt1 stamped
It should have BT1 tags. Also what is the engine number? VK BT1s had specific engine numbers for police packs. I think it started with X or XV or something.. cant quite remember but I do remember it was different to the normal 'VT' prefix that VKs have.
Absynth yellow was a BT1 ONLY colour so does it have that colour on the tags?
thanks for the info guys it has had a different engine put in it so cant say about the engine number, i've found 2 with bt1 on the tags but both were manual and the 2 i've had are auto and dont have it, it does have the absinth yellow paint code on the tags so im guessin it has to be some sort of ex police car even if it isn't a bt1, is there any way of runnin the the tags somewere to find out ?
in wheels october 84 pg 41 "although little publicised. special vechcles produces about 1000 police pursuit cars a year. they are built around a base commodore codenamed BT1 by genaral motors"
it also said there is 110 vk lm 5000 packs

hey, has ur vk bt1 got map holders and ashtrays on the front doors n has the speedo cluster got 2km increments, if so, then defentifly its a bt1
and ive never heard of the 5000 pack, only the SV5000 lol
yeah has the map holders, map lights, bigger booster and master cylinder,90 ltr tank and the absinth paint code, will have to double check on the speedo but i think its been replaced before, cheers
if it has the absynth paint code then its definently a ex-cop car.
the lm5000 was a vk brock made by hdt:

Thats Correct. Absynth Yellow was only available on Government Vehicles at that time. As for the BT1 plated Question, this practice only began in the late models approx oct 85onwards.
Its rare to find them but Check to see if you still have the GMH broadcast sheet which is located under the passengers carpet foot well. It will say what options the car was ordered with and also state BT1.
BT1 term Only Denotes National Police Package. Just because your car has BT1 plated doesnt mean that it was a HWP (HighWayPatrol) interceptor car. Interceptors were specifically assigned for Traffic control and varied in order spec. Ive seen VK interceptors with factory fitted HDT heads. I also remember seeing in the late 80's a Full leather suited TOG (Traffic Operations Group) officer driving a unmarked inteceptor lowered behond belief. There were many BT1 general duties cars, unmarked cars etc etc.
