Just wondering how it works, i called vicroads and they say p platers can get a total of 5 demerit points every 12 months, is this true? If this is true why the hell did they send me an option notice for the suspension of my licence, i copped a fine in june 2005 for not displaying p plates & 3 demerit points, i then copped another one for the same reason last month, this time i had them up but the front one wasnt visible

So you rang vicroads for an answer... and you're asking here if that answer is correct? Hrrmmm... hello. Ring them again if you're unsure on why your license is being suspended.

but when u call vicroads and check your demerit points through the computer, it states that we can accumilate 5 demerit points in a 12 month period found it have a full driver licence and get 12 or more demerit points in any 3 year period; or have a learner permit or probationary driver licence and you get 5 or more demerit points in any 12 month period or you get 12 or more demerit points in any 3 year period

chemicals is right, ull get a different answer everytime. i had the same trouble calling up to get info on an engineers for my turbo 202. some say its sweet, some say it cant be regoed, some say it needs an engineers. one engineer tells me he can sign it off as long as theres no structual work, one says i need a full EPA test (even tho im on strait gas) and some other bull**** work... id hate to think of the stories ppl are told when it comes to P plate laws lol

aparently if you have your "p" plate upside down looking like a "d" you get unity..

I got my Ps in October 2005, lost three points in one go. Two months ago, I got four points in a weekend. I still have my license, but with one point left. Therefore, accumulated demerit points for probationary license holders who obtained their license before July 1st 2007 expire after 12 months. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

I have elected to take the 12 month option from the 26th feb this year and i get my full licence on the 8th of april this year. You will still get your full licence but the 12 months good behaviour lasts the full 12 months so in my case until the 26th feb next year. if you chose to have your licence suspended then you would be on your p's for 3 months longer.
