i got 7000 to spend on a engine for my vl. what would be the best combination of parts for my engine and what would produce most power. i have a standard a8 engine to start with already but no boltons

You own 3 VL Turbo's and a Torana with a 350chev... I would have thought you wouldn't have to ask how to spend $7,000
You might want to check out this thread... pretty much the same

Whats the condition of the motor? What about the box and diff? No use suggesting things if the motor is shagged or the auto is standard... cause theres half your budget gone just rebuilding the box!

only down to one vl turbo now and buildin chevs are easy lol no computers turbos etc there lol. all my other turbos have really only been forged pistons and hi flow turbo and exhaust. diff and box are sorted already.

well injectors / ecu / turbo / manifold / gate / tune / fuel / head / cam
take your pick

first advice would be never tell anyone your budget for a build cause whatever you budget is normally add about 5k or double it. But from there ring JPC and get them to build you a strong combo.
what is it for? track? street/strip? street? what are your expectations?

street strip. what turbo ecu injectors manifolds etc etc are a good combo for my money?

13-02-08, 10:05 GMT+10#10 well a very good engine build (head + bottom) would cost from 6-10grand
depending who did it and what was done.....
i cant be bothered atm saying what parts u could get etc, but with 7-10k as an engine budget (including boltons) i doubt u'd be able to hit even 400rwhp reliably....
as i said the motor costs 6grand (or 5k MINIMUM, and this would still use std rods mind you), just the boltons ALONE would then put the price past $7000, sadly. by boltons i mean an exhaust manifold + turbo + wastegate package $3000ish, inlet manifold $800-1000....theres still more gear to buy!
then you'd need to think about the fuel setup (injectors, fuel pump/s etc etc), the ecu......you said the "gearbox and diff was already sorted", but that doesnt really help :/ how much power is the gbox rated at?
its a pretty tight budget but im sure something can be done???

13-02-08, 10:32 GMT+10#11 7k......
ecu, ignition, fuel system, internal gated 35r on standard manifold, head and cam.....
then hope the engine doesn't pop

13-02-08, 10:41 GMT+10#12 get a standard rebuild if the engine is tired and then spend the rest on bolt ons, big injectors, ecu+tune.
