Safe boost, engine knocking, best engine oil?

Hi Guys, Thank you for reading, I hope someone can help me with four things: 1.Just ran in a full rebuilt RB30 engine, I noticed yesterday at startup the engine made this small knocking sound. Resembled a lifter sound (but i'm not sure), it came and it went... Anyone know what that is or should I worry about it? 2. I was never chasing big power, so I cut the spring on my wastegate, then the bloody thing leaked air So i ended up placing another spring and it held on 12psi. Would that be safe for stock VLT with T04? What is my limit? 3. If I don't warm up my car, the engine makes this small slapping noise. Is that because of liquid forged? Should I use thicker oil? 4. There are hundreds of engine oils on the market. I was considering synthetic, if synthetic does last me twice the kilometers or give me extraordinary protection then i guess its worth it, because it is twice the price of a standard oil. If I go for a standard oil, any recommendations? Thanks heaps for reading and recommendations. Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

so was it a knocking sound or a ticking sound cause lifters tend to make ticking noises. In my old motor (which was stuffed) there was a knocking noise coming from in the engine when you free revved it from stuffed bearings. I think 12 psi is fine (intercooled) or as long as it doesn't ping. i dont have forged pistons but ive heard that until they get to operating temp you can get some piston slap. I dont think there is anything wrong with synthetic in a new engine as long as you dont go a too thin viscosity.

Cool thanks. I ran it in with some cheap gulf western stuff. Kinda find it hard to pay $70 bucks for oil unless it is really really worth it. I ended up using shell plus 15-50 semi synthetic. While changing my sparkies (NGK BK7), I also noticed the 6th sparkplug looked really lean compared to the rest. Would this be a head gasket or injector?
