hey guys
i really have no idea when it comes to car audio, so il ask u blokes. i have a 4x200w amp in my car which is running a pair of 220w pioneer splits, with 6x9s running off the HU. can i bridge the remaining 2 channels on the amp to run a 12" sub?
my HU only has 1 pair of rca outputs so imguessing i cant run the sub and another amp off that as well as the existing amp?
any help apreciated
u can get some RCA splitters if u wana run multiple amps.
if u keen on a top of the line Sony headunit, give me a pm and we can sort somin out...
and if the amp is bridgeable, then yes you can bridge the remaining 2 outputs for the sub
You'll need a few things
-4 gauge power into a distribution block to run 2 amps
-RCA splitters because you only have 1 RCA out... (But because you have no sub control on your headunit) nothing will be tunable from the deck, you'll have to do it from amps as good as you can
-possibly a better amp to run your 4 speakers... 4x200 doesn't seem enough... And obviously a new amp for your sub
I'd recommend if you are just keeping the 1 amp that you upgrade it as 4x200 will not be ideal for speakers and sub
hey mate how many rca cables are at the back of your headunit?
if only 2 use 2 rca splitters your amp will have front and rear inputs/outputs
rears usualy have a low pass filter on there somewhere use the two rear outputs bridged for your sub just dont buy the biggest mutha sub you can go for something around 600w peak rating no more.
if you only want a bit of base not window cracking boot rattles swap your speakers round run the 6x9s off the amp and the splits off the hu.
some photos of both ends of the amp and the back of the hu would help as its a bit hard to without knowing what you have.
regards
will
cheers for ur input guys

No you're better off going a low end sub, running splits off amp and 6x9s off hu
Splits are useless off a hu... Plus... You don't drive in the back seat.... You hear audio from the front of the car (as you're closer to those speakers)....
Amp the fronts (whatever they maybe), power the rears off your deck, and bridge 2 channels (if possible) into a sub
just because you drive from the front seat doesnt mean **** mate sorry.
comes down to 2 things some ppl prefer the bulk of the music from the rear and depending on where your front speakers are mounted they wont give as much sound as parcel shelf mounted rears. specially to the front of the car as the sound bounces off the rear window and forward to your ear level if you have front speakers in your doors or kick panels try turning off your rears and then try turning off your fronts with the rears on and you'll see what i mean.
sorry mate i'm not trying to start **** with you.

it may bounce off the window forwards, tho this will cause sound delay, and sound ****, for clarity its much better to have splits in the front and a sub in the boot and not run 6x9s as they are also designed for bass, you will get a much smoother clearer sounding stereo this way, sorry to say but id much rather have clear sound up front than having to hear sound that you say bounces off the window
or you can mount your 6x9s standing up, will make no difference except price of a box and would look liek calais head rests anyway, my m8 has this and i preferd my un ampd splits in the front over my ampd 6x9s in the rear anyway
Do what NOMAD said. Run the splits off the amp and the 6x9's off the head unit. The splits tend to sound a lot better than 6x9's (the cone distorts because of the oval shape and the way it attaches to the surround. Rear speakers are just there for rear fill and nothing else.
What brand and model # is your amp. We'll be able to tell you if you can bridge the 2 channels to run your sub.
