I have both external wet pump and dry sump setups, I'd advise that if your just drag racing and no circuit work, then go just the wet pump, its basically a dry sump system, it has the same scavenge and pressure section as a dry sump, it just still uses the sump as the "tank" rather than an external tank. If you already have a good sump, an external oil pump setup is about $2500-$2700 with a 1000hp ATI balancer, drive kit, pulleys, belts, billet brackets, pump etc, you'd just need to run a few lines.
A dry sump setup would have a minimum 4 stages, 3 suction and 1 pressure, you have 2 in the sump, 1 in the back of the head, plus pressure side. Its about $5500-6k with lines, and offers little to no benifits other than greater oil capacity fr anything but high G cornering and track work. There is 6 second cars running a wet sump setup still.
Either way, I can point you in the right directions if you'd like to collect the parts yourself as well.

I would also like to know this, as a 1000hp ATI balancer is about $850, peterson pump $1600ish, spline drive kit $200, pulleys $270, then you have bracket, tank and about $2000 worth of lines and fittings. Not saying it can't be done, last time I spoke to you you were talking about getting a braided line kit out of the states or something, that, with the stock balancer or cheaper alternative, home made drive and brackets and a second hand V8 supercar pump and you might get the price down to 3-4k, but it would be a big ask, not everyone is as resourceful and lucky as you

01-02-08, 07:21 GMT+10#12 it can be done for cheaper but with a second hand pump and if you can get the tank in the engine bay you can reduce the amount of speedflow by a heap.

haha mate your trying to pick something with the wrong guy lol
pigsy has built just about everything on his car
manifold, motor, head, wiring, cooler pipes, dump pipe, you name it
and its making over 500rwhp thru an auto on low boost and a very light tune with not very much timing and on pump fuel
all from a single cammer
the car has ALOT more left in it
also i very much doubt he gives a sh1t what any1else thinks about his car as he knows he has built it himself and it goes very very well!

Well what do you call low boost? I m not trying to start anything, its just we get our backs up whenever i post something up about what i am doing to my car and what we are trying to get out of it....... and all me hear is negative comments "Like your manifold is **** , the dyno is not on the right setting etc" For one NO one on here has seen my manifold! So dont comment on something you ALL dont know about! Second of all dont know someone out there trying to push the development of the VL!!!! I never knock anyone's car on here. Thats the hole reason why i joined up to calais turbo .com to show everyone out there my car. If you dont like it then dont comment on it. Simple!

02-02-08, 11:11 GMT+10#18 i love your car
anyone that can get a 26/30 to work properly is doing a great job
and your pushing it even further by going to an 88mm turbo which i dont think anyone has done on a street vl here in aus
i remember seeing your car at trickweld a few years back, thats the 1st and only time i have seen it lol
also i think he is making it at under 20lb
goodluck with it mate
dry sumps are a good idea i think, if your going for reliability and big revs

02-02-08, 11:52 GMT+10#20 I think we are going to give the Dry sump a miss. We are going a different path in that setup. Pully style we think.
As i said , i wish i could have taken it to the track on the last setup. The only reason i get rid of the T51r is coz Mark offered me a good deal on a billet turbo.
If the Head Gasket didnt blow, i would have taken it to the track.
Clean thing's up .... the head gasket went on it from the Thermo fan broke one time. then the second time the fulse broke. Over heated.
This is the last setup on the car.
