hey guys and girls, Me and my girlfriend are coming over to Melbourne for a holiday early March and I'm trying to get it all sorted and booked. Having a bit of trouble though, not sure where the best value places to stay and the best spots/things to do are. So just curious if anyone can help us out with: Best things to see/do (we'll be there for 10 days)? Best places/hotels to stay (preferrably close to good things to do at night like clubs etc.)? Any help would be fantastic Thanks! Chris

lol endless choices! you looking staying in the city or more somewhere out of melbourne? for a good selection of hotels try www.wotif.com.au (http://www.wotif.com.au) will give you an idea of prices and gives you information about the hotel. melb is full of clubs, just depends what your into, theres generally always somewhere to go out on any night. dunno bout touristy stuff... somewhere like phillip island is a good day trip or even for a few days, even down great ocean road, mad cruise, down the peninsula to rye or rosebud goes alright, depends what your into..

Generaly Southbank is a good place to stay, Its also right near Flinders Street which is Melbournes Main train terminal also its right near all the trams so you can get around the city without need of a taxi. What are you and your girlfreind into? There is an amusement park in St.Kilda which you can catch a tram from on Flinders Street.

Lygon st is also good for the night life, mainly for a meal and coffee though. Are you getting a hire car? if so Mt dandenong is about a 40min drive from the city. Theres some really nice little cafes up there. Crown will be expensive but there are plenty of other decent hotels in the CBD, try the websites the guys above have mentioned. Definately recommend great ocean road ! check out the 12 (5?) apostles etc etc.

cheers for the suggestions fellas!!! yeh i thought it would be pretty easy to pick a hotel etc but with so many of them makes it tough!! not like perth lol well i'm 21 and g/f is 18 so we do a bit of clubbing etc so pretty keen on getting into that + bands etc... Just dont want to pick a hotel and then realise its 50k's from where all the good spots are. Oh also keen to see some VL's Some original photos have not been recovered yet.

If you're into bands, take a train from flinders st out to richmond station, and check out the Corner Hotel, always something going on there. Maybe do that, then go clubbing, always works for me.
