yeah did a search! if you think your rb 30 has done a good 1/4 mile time, post it up, or if you think your rb has good power post it up. would just like to see what is goin on in the world of the na rb30 atm, has never been much interest in working the na rb30. I know they are not worth the money to work them, but some people out there dont have an option but to work with what they got!!

Thats true about working with what you got, but at the end of they day, the amount you spend on trying to get it to go faster, you may as well splurge a bit and find an turbo motor. Save any hassles further down the track

i believe Rover on here ran 14.1 with stock computer probably chipped though. but there was another bloke with similar mods but a full microtech running 13.9. i believe the r31 skylines are down to about 13.5 13.4 but thats with twincam heads.

yeah i know what you mean, why bother with the na rb30 to make them go, when you can just get a turbo setup. Was gonna do the same with my series 2, I had a turbo set up lined up, then....the Caprice's ( family car )gearbox had cried enough and there goes my $2.4k of my $3k stash for my turbo driveline conversion. The $2.4k went on a good tough rebuild cause the stock current gearbox isnt gonna handle the current grunt and weight if the caprice. Im concentrating more on the caprice for the moment, since i have spent a bit on the gearbox, but i still have a vl , I am a ex diesel fitter( i have seen a few big holset and garrett turbs on trucks and it has been tempting to pinch one and put it on my vl LOL)) and i have a few engine machining/rebuilding mates that wanna have a play around with it for fun, and cheap good parts no crap stuff!!!just doing a little reasearch on what mods have already been done to make them go better, im not expecting a 12 or 13 sec 1/4 mile car, just wanna see what the na boys are doing to make them little quicker and a bit more fun. I enjoy a challenge anyways

Save any hassles further down the track The difference between having a modified turbo and spending money on a modified N/a engine would have to be reliability. Yeah the turbo will go faster everytime but the amount of problems that come associated with it, is not worth the money that you have to keep shelling out, to fix it. Plus with a modified N/a you dont get pulled over nearly as much as a turbo and you see more time on the road.

Good point better on the road than off, but with getting pulled over really depends on how you drive and how you car presents itself, but i do see what u mean! what have you done to your na to give it 135 rwkw, or dont you wanna tell???

not that im having a go at the n/a guys, but why sink so much money into an n/a that will strugle to make power. i remember an article that a guy spent big on fitting NOS , forged bottom end, head work big $$ made 300 hp .... the question is why would u just to make a point ?

Think of it as a challenge. Its easy to make a VLT go fast, and relatively cheaply. No one tries to me an N/A go fast. Something different.

but why waste money doing something for the hell of it when u can get power from a turbo for half the price ?

^^^i was thinking of doing this with a spare car my mates got and im a mechanic so i can do it all myself and get stuff at trade price not to mention il be going halfs with him i agree with you to it is too easy to get power from turbo cars thats why getting power out of an old na is a challange not every one can do

No its not! Its about PURPOSE. HH is about building a car to run big numbers. Building a drag car is about getting quick times on the track. Putting a pod on a Civic is about being.....well, you get the point. In the name of progress, interest, self satisfaction, and pure entertainment - its fun to try new things. Would you not respect someone that busted their arse to build their own house from scratch for twice the cost than it would to use a builder? If someone can build a quick (13s) NA VL, thats awesome. Very impressive.
