hello all,
im in the middle of a 304efi conversion to my VH SL/E and was wondering what trans x-member and mount people have used to fit the T700???
also, is it just a matter of using the VN front half of the tailshaft to get the shorter length???
any help would be appreciated...
Cheers.
I used a castle autos crossmember with the std VN mount.
My tailshaft uses a VL rear (I have a VL diff) and a VN V8 front.
They bolt up, but you need to keep the phasing of the unis the same.
Hey mate, try a VB-VK trimatic cross member, you mite have to shim it up to get the trans at the correct height and yes use the VN front half of the tail shaft also use the VN V8 center bearing and CV.
I see your in SA, im also shortly goin to be doin another EFI conversion using a T700 this time.

For sure in SA, i saw ya at gazzanats, mates with veljkovic...
Is the V6 and V8 VN front half of tha tailshaft the same??? and, did you use a trimatic mount on the x-member or a T700 mount, as i have a triamatic x-member already, just no mount yet...
You should need to extend the the vb-k trimatic crossmember to fit the T700. You will be able to buy a pre fab one from castlemaine rod shop for around $100 if you cant get someone to modify yours. If you put a borg warner diff in your vh you can run a complete vn tailshaft however if your sticking with the 10 bolt you will need the vn front half.
Use a trimatic crossmember, we ve done 3 T400 into vb-vl and im certain they are same length as a t700.
Also use the VN front half tailshaft and the VL rear works fine.
